If you feel like you are coming on with a cold of flu, don't hesitate to take 2 in the morning and 2 at night first 2 days. I'm not a doctor, so if you don't feel comfortable with my advice, follow what the bottle says!!! If you take 1 a day during the cold flue season, it will in my experience help you keep your immune system a bit better than it is. So will vitamin D, but please always be careful if you mix supplements with medications. Always check and double check with your doctor what you are taking! I have used Nature's Way brand for years. Whenever I get a cold (which is rare these days) that I feel is going to go into my chest, I use this combo product several times a day with plenty of liquids. In addition to consuming homemade bone broths and eating greens, the echinacea goldenseal combo works well to alleviate congestion and expectorating the mucous that accompanies the inflammation. Some people can be sensitive to Goldenseal so be sure to read up on it first. I have read the goldenseal should not be taken while pregnant. I did use echinacea while pregnant, with no ill effects. I have found this remedy just as effective as prescriptions or cold medicines, without the negative side effects. I avoid bronchitis with this routine and thus avoid using antibiotics which kill both the bad bacteria and the good bacteria that you need in your gut for health.

I waited (a long time) for a price drop to $9.99 as an add on item, and bought 2 of them. (currently it's $15.26 + $1.99 shipping) It's hard to say for sure if it truly helps knock down colds when you're getting sick, but I can say myself and another adult in the house both had colds start, and not progress much past their starting phases after taking these. I noticed no ill effects from the pills themselves (I took them for a few days when I first got them and wasn't sick to see if there was any issues), and the one cold I had seemed shorter, and not very severe. That's good enough for me. Will update for good or bad as we need them again.

I used this product during cold and flu season along with extra vitamin C. I am the type of person who always gets sick during cold and flu season and often times I end up in the hospital because it gets so severe with my asthma. However this year I didn't get sick at all! and I believe its because I was taking Echinacea Goldenseal along with extra Vitamin C. I will definetely be taking this combination of herbs and vitmains next cold and flu season as well. Also, I was exclusively breastfeeding my daughter during the whole time and she never got sick either. I know its questionable whether or not to take Goldenseal while breastfeeding but like I said it had no effect on my daughter except helped to keekp her from getting sick too. She was 2 months to 4 months when I was taking Echinacea Goldenseal. She is now 7 months. Talk to your doctor or childs pediatrician before deciding to take this when you are breastfeeding. Most companies will put 'do not use' or 'talk to your doctor' when pregnant or breastfeeding because they dont want to get in trouble if something were to happen to your child while you were taking this product. It doesn't always mean that its unsafe to use but the companies want to protect their own butt!

I love these herbs for keeping colds away and have used this combo for years. Unfortunately my son got sick but didn't take this as soon as he started feeling bad. He says he's taking it but it may be too late for him to get the full benefits. I use this right away when I have the first inkling that I may be getting a cold. My husband, working in hospitals, uses this 2 tablets two times a day for seven days and then takes a break as is recommended. When I do get sick I use 2 tablets 3 times a day. Works wonders!!!
