I have a metal dual burner furnace for smelting anything you would want. I refine silver mostly and occasionally gold if i acquire it in the sterling i buy. I first seen these and thought they were silly little toys that would be worthless to be honest here. Scrolling through i came across these and thought. why not. well i can honestly say. they are my go to units i use. my metal furnace was put under the bench for when i want to maybe smelt aluminum or copper etc. these are the only thing you should get near silver or gold. I use a oxy acetylene set up with a brazing head to melt my silver. the durability of these is incredible. once they are fluxed. i honestly dont see how you could damage them unless you drop them. and that would be your fault. after i cement my silver out. ill use the bigger ones to pour shot for my silver cell. once through that. i use the smaller ones to pour my bars. ive poured up to 90 gram silver bars with the bigger ones. you are up close and more personal with these. leaving you with so much cleaner pours. less contamination and precise pours. leaving your final product exactly how you want your pours to be. unlike pulling a red hot heavy crucible that feels like you are lifting the sun out of your furnace and in no way can you control silver like you can these. Silver sucks up oxygen tremendously. you have to keep the surface oxygen free at all times up until it solidifies. or your bars are gonna look like a 5 year old gave it a whirl. filled with holes and disappointment. with these. i can pour my .9999 silver so precise and controlled. my bars are filled on all sides with that kaleidoscope look of pure silver. cannot get that done with anything else. and the value for these for the price is superb. another note. is even though about 10-12inches away you are melting silver or whatever close to 2000 degrees. and the handle does not transfer heat back to your hand. ive literally held them with my bare hand and did not get hot to touch. even after pouring 15 1-2 oz bars in a row. so far i have used 2 of them. a big and a little. I have smelted 2 kilos of silver through them. actually 4 kilos because i melted all the cement into shot as well. and not a single damage mark on them. and thats using an oxy acetylene torch on them with way more blasting heat than any map gas t8000 head could possibly give them. ive had them completely glowing red from pour after pour keeping moving. and still all undamaged. i took the time to write this because the product deserves the review i gave.

Cheap price cheap product. The crucible is easy to shatter and the handles aren't very sturdy.

Casting silver this is a very nice tool to have they hold a decent amount of material and it heats up fast.

Just as described maybe a little better

Well I received mine right on time but as like other reviewers have mentioned, one of the bowls was cracked into pieces. Thought I was a lucky one until opening the last bubble wrapped crucible. The tong holders seem to hold the crucible well and I didn't notice any irregularities with those but have yet to really heat them up. They did not come with any instructions as to seasoning them so guess You will have to figure that one out yourself depending on your specific planned use. I did bake mine in the oven for a while to drive out any potential moisture that may remain . So far not one has had any issue but they have yet to face the intense heat of molten metal. Only 3 stars because one was broke and they don't come with any seasoning or pre heating instructions . Had they included a simple ' Do this before first use' paper , and packaged a bit better, I would not have removed two stars.

Worked great for smelting gold and reducing other metals in gold. The crucibles seems really well made. I had no breaks while smelting. Make sure to heat the crucible up evenly so you don’t over heat to fast and crack your crucible. Crucible holding clams that come with it are very very nice to have.

One clay bowl came broken , better packaging as they are all together no spacing wrapped in bubble wrap . it’s a good beginner set .

My item returned completely shattered. When trying to get a refund, I was asked to return the product which is in pieces (see below). No option to show this damage or to request a refund.

All wrapped in bubble but everything stacked together inside resulting in a shattered crucible.. the material does the job but the packaging is horrible…

2 pieces came broken.
