Great Beginner Camera With Impressive Zoom
I bought this camera for everyday photos and travel, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality for the price. The 40x optical zoom works really well, especially for outdoor pictures and distant shots. The camera is lightweight, easy to carry, and simple to use even if you’re not very tech savvy. The picture quality is good in daylight, and the battery life has been decent so far. I also like that it records clear 1080p video. Overall, this is a great beginner or casual-use camera if you want something more powerful than a phone camera without spending a fortune.

Compact and Capable
I just got into photography as a hobby and wasn't sure about spending a lot on a “nicer” DSLR. This little bridge camera is a great all-in-one for my needs and so far has taken some decent photos. It’s compact and lightweight so it’s not fatiguing while worn and it slips away into a pack just fine. The controls and modes take a bit of getting used to, but become easy to navigate afterwords. The optical zoom is the main reason I got this over others and it doesn't disappoint. The autofocus is a bit slow, but was still able to take a freehand image of the moon. For all this little guy offers, Im pretty impressed.

Compact lightweight and decent quality photos
Pros small, lightweight, easy to use, Wi-Fi, capable, and it takes pretty decent day photographs. I also like that it does have a built-in lash that you can use. Cons the first day using it on two separate occasions from switching from mode to mode and zooming close to far away my camera actually froze. I had to pop out the batteries and put them back in to reset the camera so I will keep an eye on that. It’s definitely not a DSLR camera and it doesn’t take the best motion photos so it’s not gonna capture a running dog but as you can see it did a great job on the ducks and various things and I think the color was good on automatic. It actually is a pretty decent camera. I wanna I gave it four stars. I would’ve given it five if it had a little bit better of a stabilizer and if it would’ve done better, taking lowlight photos, but all in all the picture quality is fine for what I’m gonna be using it for.

Not a fan
Too much plastic. I have other minolta cameras but none with this. Considered returning for a refund

Good camera, good price
I had been looking for a decent camera that wasn't over $400. As an elderly man, I just wanted a camera that was easy to use, took good pictures and used batteries that could be replaced. A camera that has to be plugged in to recharge is worthless. I found this camera easy to use. The picture quality was very good and the 40x zoom was very impressive. It has a lot of features I may never use but the instruction booklet gives step by step instructions that even I could follow. I got the camera on sale but it's certainly worth the full price. I'm very satisfied.

Tons of features - good value bridge camera
I am impressed with the overall quality and vast number of features at this price point. Great tactile camera body texture and convenient small size. The 40X optical zoom is noteworthy. Nice large viewfinder/screen. The supplied camera 'bag' is little more than a spandex pouch, so I bought a $25 aftermarket hard case made for the Kodak AZ405, which for reference is the same size as this Minolta. I opted for a 128GB card and am using Energizer lithium AAs rather than the supplied no- names. IMHO this package represents a good value for a budget friendly bridge camera. Yes, I know that neither the Minolta nor Kodak cameras are actually made by them, but by contract manufacturers who have licensed the name. I chose Minolta because the Kodak uses rechargeable batteries which for ME are an unnecessary hassle.

Excellent compact camera with a excellent lens & manual controls
For the price, this digital 20MP Minolta MN40Z camera has an excellent quality lens that takes high resolution pictures. Now add the ability to take high resolution sharp zoomed pictures of very distant objects, birds (egret or heron), the moon, etc. using the 40x optical zoom is a nice bonus unavailable with modern phones. Taking high quality pictures is very easy just using the Auto mode, it’s like point, focus/zoom & shoot! But if you want to take a picture of the full moon in detail (see included picture), you can use a tripod, then select the Manual mode and play around with the film speed (ISO) and shutter speed to get a nice detailed photograph. And that’s the high point for this camera, you can take photos automatically easily and also choose to customize your photos using options in the Manual mode. The included case, strap and lens cover w/attached string makes this a nice combination. I highly recommend this to anyone that likes to take high quality pictures.

I suggest a quality camera over this one.
This camera has flaws. I've only had it a very short time and have had difficulties with thr camera functions. It took a few days to figure out the mode dial on top is wrong. The icons on the file when lined up with mark does not match what the camera is adjusted to. The automatic iron goes to custom settings. The wifi icon goes to shutter settings. . Nothing in the little handbook is right indirecting which button to push to make adjustments. I cannot recommend this camera. I made a mistake buying it. I received a notice limited time deal. Now I know why. Nothing is right.

Sold as new, likely relieved refurbished
I do not believe my camera was new. It came with a handwritten note on the instruction book and was missing a charging cable. It was supposed to be new.

May not be new? New look but looks and acts just like my 2004 Fuji finepix
this was to replace a nikon coolpix as it somehow had dust or particles behind the lens that the sensor was picking up and placing onto the digital pictures. At the recomendation of my Girlfriend, I purchased this camera. It was shiny and new right out of the box. I loved the fact it uses 4AA batteries instead of a small rechargeable pack as it means I can carry fresh power and swap it out in seconds instead of charging the pack for hours. This means more pictures on the job in a shorter time period. As my job sometimes requires hundreds of photos at the end of the days work this is important. The only issue I have had is it too seems to have dust or other debris that is being picked up and included with the photo data so some photos are not as ‘crisp’ as they should be. Other than that it is a great addition to tmy camera history.
