Though the skillet (it's called a saucepan in the listing) is listed at 4", the diameter at the bottom is more like 3", which I believe would be the perfect size to fry one egg for an English muffin sandwich. I'm sure there are lots of other uses as well. The .14qt saucepan has a working volume of 1/2 cup. It will come in handy for making and/or heating small quantities of sauces and such. I was concerned they would be "tippy" on the stove, being so small, but they are quite heavy gauge and sit properly on their bottoms when empty. I'm glad I bought them and look forward to using them soon. p.s.
