Popped open and no 'crease lines'. Black soft-shine, semi matte embossed material. (NOT patent leather look). You have to get closer to make out what the pattern is. (Not really clear from far away, which is nice). It's semi subtle. However the little metal skulls around the front flap and front bottom give it an 'edge'. None are loose. (I pulled on each of them!) Clean, even stitching all around. No loose threads. No marks or marring anywhere. No smell! No dull spots, no tears, no weak seams. Inside fabric and stitching seem strong. Really a great deal for the money. Wish it came in other colors like red or beige. HIGHLY Recommend.
