I had to sew about 1/2" in on each side and about 3/4" of the way in on the straps in the back for it to fit the way I wanted for 1st year birthday pics. I also had to remove the bow and sew it on at the waistband as it was sewed on a little low and barely holding on. I ordered the 12 month size. I would highly suggest ordering it well in advance (I expedited and it was pricey) and trying it on before the special occasion.
