These are large sardines with nearly transparent skin and soft bones which are very nutritious but can be removed if desired. Ortiz is the best! **Q: Are the cans bpa free?** A: I checked the can and there is no mention of BPA. I checked Google and I read that if it isn't listed as BPA free then it isn't. I really think Ortiz and another brand, which uses sardines caught off the coast of Portugal, are in a dead heat for deliciousness. Ortiz is less "smoky" and considered a delicacy by sardine lovers.
