I actually purchase two other turntables with high reviews that I was never pleased with before I finally purchased this Oxo brand. One was an 18 inch and the other was smaller. I can honestly now state that the OXO 16 inch turntable is by far the very best and superior turntable that you can purchase to date. It is 16 inch diameter on the outside, but only has a 14 inches usable diameter surface area on the inside were you place things. The unit is super strong and well made and can hold tons of weight and still revolve very silently and smoothly. I have to have at least 20lbs of weight on it right now, and room for another 3 large bottles containing of liquids in bottles totaling 10lbs. Like all turntables it is two pieces joined together with a revolving sleeve mechanism. The bottom piece is white the top pieces has a black rim but the insides where you place things is white and is pebbled with tiny plastic bumps to help prevent things from sliding when you turn the table, and it works great. This non smooth surface stops the bottles from sliding when the turntable is revolved or stopped from revolving. I only turn it at a normal speed or " slowly ", so I don't think that sliding of objects is any concern for myself on this or any turntable. Like all OXO product's, this turntable looks super great but was well thought out and designed perfectly for what it was going to be used for. A functional circular storage area that revolves to give quick access to any item placed within that circumference. Another 10 out of 10 OXO product. Am I surprised ? " Absolutely Not ".
