Installation is the key!
This pickup gets a bad rap because of its installation quirks. Go to TalkBass.com and see what pro and amateur players say about the installation procedure. Experement with the placement. I am happy with mine on my 1/2 size Shen upright plywood bass. It is superglued close to the strings on the upside of the bridge. The clips supplied dont work with every bass. Much better than my previous wing mount PU

Quality product
Very easy to install, no tools needed and it took me less than 5 minutes. Make sure to leave a little space between the strings and the pickups (about 3mm seems to be enough) and you'll get great clarity and a full range off of each string. So far I've used it both direct into amps and through a pre-amp (Sansamp DI), both work pretty well but, because it gets the full range, you'll definitely want some way to tweak your sound. A little bit of that tweaking will quickly get you from a smooth big band feel to a rockabilly sound. Most important to me is very low noise, even with the treble turned well up I didn't need a noise gate. This item does exactly what it's supposed to do and a great job of it. Simple, zero maintenance, unobtrusive, and great sound, what more can you ask for.

Best pickup I've used for jazz
I'm a jazz bass player and I have tried several pickups for my upright bass and this one was definitely my favorite by far. It has one of the most ideal tones for jazz that I've come across as well as working well for playing with a bow.

Great sound quality
Paired with a good amp and cord, this pick up is great quality. Makes my bass fiddle sound amazing and very easy to play. Highly recommend.

Good product, but the one i received was obviously a previously returned item.
Good product, but the one i received was obviously a previously returned item. The adhesive on the pickup elements was disfigured and had some lint on it like someone tried it and returned it. Maybe you guys can send me a partial discount toward a future purchase?

Could not make it work
We bought the BP-100 for my son's upright bass, which he plays in his high school orchestra and jazz band. He tried installing it and it was just a no-go. The clips are too closed, and we couldn't widen them, and they will not fit on the bridge. The part that goes around the two strings under the bridge will not reach to cover two strings. We will have to return it.

Have used this pick-up since the 90s on my 50s ...
Have used this pick-up since the 90s on my 50s Juzek. Am in agreement with the comments here, regarding tonal shortcomings but not at all about its reliability or proneness to breakage. Impedance matching/ tonal issues completely corrected when a Fishman Pro Platinum DI/EQ preamp is inserted in the signal chain on its way to an 80s Ampeg B-1 combo amp. Without the outboard pre-amp, the tone reproduction IS compromised.
