The holes in the chipboard have become too big for the screws. I have phoned the seller 3 times, the first two times my information was taken and I was told they would call me back - they didn't. Today, when I phoned again, I was told there was nothing they could do. I was out of the manufacturers warranty. They were delivered last October, but I didn't start using them till mid November. The person on the phone accused me of misusing them. HE SAID THE ONLY WAY THAT COULD HAPPEN WAS IF THEY HAD BEEN ABUSED, THE DOOR MUST HAVE BEEN FORCED OPEN. What a load of nonsense!! I can't even imagine any scenario when that would happen, unless a wardrobe locked with a key, which clearly isn't the care here. I suspect this isn't the first time this has happened as he had a solution ready for me, to put filler in the holes and redrill them. This should not happen with £600 wardrobes. I am retired, on my own and don't even need to open that door on a daily basis. Yet they must have been misused. These were bought with retirement money and intended to see me out, because I won't be able to buy any more. To say I am disappointed would be a huge understatement. I am disgusted and distraught. **************************************************** I would like to give these wardrobes more, because they are very nice to look at, but I can't. The quality is not good for the price. They are made of chipboard with MDF trim around, and across the middle of, the two outer doors. The backs are very flimsy boards, in the larger wardrobes in 2 pieces and in places a slight gap. The doors don't line up and there are gaps between the doors of up to a cm.. I made the mistakes of asking the supplier, twice, if I had to remove the dado rail( because I had been told to do so for another wardrobe I thought of buying from the same firm) and was told yes I had to, but not the skirting board. It didn't make a lot of sense to me, but I did, with difficulty remove the required section of dado. however, even if the wardrobes were attached to the wall. which they weren't, it would have been unnecessary to remove the dado, as not removing the skirting means they couldn't lie flush against the wall. So I was left with a damaged wall and a very unsightly gap. I wasn't happy so I did ask for the men to come back to move the wardrobes and fix them to the wall. They did come back and moved them so the gap and damaged wall isn't easily seen, but they couldn't fix them to the wall. The delivery was quicker than expected, about a week, and the men were nice and worked hard, late in the day after long hours, to assemble them. I think they did the best they could. My mistake was to try and make sure I did the right thing for the fitting and not making sure what they were made of. I wouldn't have ordered them if I'd known they weren't MDF. I don't believe they could have ever sold for the supposed original price. However, on the plus side, the mirrors are very good. It is possible to add shelves, but not rails, as I had hoped to do. Although there is a line of holes on the two outer sides of the double wardrobes there aren't any on the opposite sides. The drop from a hanger on the rails is, at the most 144cm, so maxi dresses trail on the floor. The distance from the top of the inside to the top of the rail is at least 43cm. I moved my rails up as high as they would go after assembly. They are made of chipboard, good quality, according to the delivery/ assembly men, but chipboard nonetheless.
