It is difficult to find a very low dose of niacin. I needed 100 mg dose per day. This brand was up to the task

I use several products by SOARAY, but this Niacin 250mg, Time Release formula isn't a fit for me personally. Within a few minutes after taking it following a meal, I began to feel tingling and a sunburn like tingling and heat feeling on my face, followed by major flushing. Shortly after that, the my skin on other parts of my body began tingling, then itching severely, with a mild to moderate rash developing on my arms and torso. The intensity of the side effects began to subside after about 3 hours from time of taking the dose, but now after about 8 hours into it, I'm still experiencing some of them albeit less severe. It's unfortunate that this product doesn't work for me (or others from what I've now read in other reviews.) I'll be tossing it out and looking for another brand to better fit for my particular body chemistry. I urge other potential buyers to proceed with CAUTION, and to CAREFULLY READ THE REVIEWS, before they try this one. I do realize that some find this product is a great fit for them. It's just not a good one for me.

I'm sure the product is great for many people, but after taking 3 days I had a severe allergic reaction and went into anaphylactic shock. Fortunately there are paramedics where I work so it turned out well. I know this doesn't happen to everyone and I'm sure for most it works great. Just wanted to let people know my story so they can be cautious when they start taking it.

I use other solaray products, and this is another great product of theirs! Happy with my purchase.

I have been using Niacin 250 Extended (Timed) Relief for 20 years. This is the first time I've used Solaray's product. I've taken all but 8 pills from my initial purchase. Last night the Niacin brought me out of a deep sleep with a flush so strong that I couldn't lay in bed, nor could I get comfortable sitting. Nothing could touch my body without feeling like I was on pins & needles. I went to the bathroom, where I became more uncomfortable - heat, skin sensitivity, and weakness. I dropped to the floor and then became nauseated. I think that the one pill I took last night was mispackaged. It took me a couple of hours to feel some relief. I've used Nature's Bounty for the last 20 years with no issues of this nature. They no longer provide Niacin 250 ER, hence my move to Solaray. I was prescribed this low dose Niacin to help with my cholesterol and triglycerides. I cannot trust the contents of this product, so per medical advice - I will discontinue the use of this product.

I’m fairly certain that this is 500mg, and not 250mg. I have taken 250mg of Niacin before, and never had flushing like this. Taken with breakfast, and the flushing was horrible.I bought this because I got tired of cutting 500mg tablets in half, but I’m going back to the good-old 500mg Slo Niacin that I had taken before and I’ll keep cutting them in half.

I bought this specifically because ordinary niacin causes a very frightening flush that feels like a severe allergic reaction and lasts at least an hour. This product is advertised as time-release, but I got an immediate flush. If this matters to you, look for a different product, as you can't return this.
