Life is GOOD!
Yes, it doesn't have the variable rotary compressor of the larger units. This thing is the quietest unit I have ever used. No compressor shock as it powers on. On low speed it is perfect for light sleepers such as myself. This unit is much longer than similarly sized units. I put a bottle jack and some microfiber cloth to level the unit onto the stucco shelf outside my window. I was able to carry the unit comfortably from out of the box and outdoor so I can install the unit into the window. The included seal kit is fine for horizontal windows but wholly inadequate for vertical windows. Two packs of 1 1/4" thick foam helped close the gaps with my MDF board I use to block the window opening. I chose LG as I have a favorable view of the brand and I have a mechanical control 6000 btu unit that has performed reliably for years. It is a fantastic looking unit and the app based control is high convenient. It also includes a remote and physical touch controls on the unit. Energy saver mode completely shuts off the unit once the temperature is reached. But honestly, with how efficient this is, I just leave it on low fan cool and let it automatically keep the temperature at a steady state. This is what is wonderful about this unit. No motor cycling with the inverter technology. For light sleepers such as myself this a godsend. Yes, this is much more expensive than most 6000 btu units. But for what you pay you get a superior quality of life.

So far I couldn't be happier
This is on the 6000 BTU model. So far it is wonderful. On low you can barely even hear it running. On medium the fan only uses 24 watts. When the compressor starts it slowly ramps up and I can barely hear it happening. This is the 6000 BTU model. It absolutely does adjust the amount of power it uses. Most to the time when the compressor is running is is only using around 150w. I have seen it go up to 400w for less than a minute and drop back down to 150w. Today It has used 0.4Kw in the last 13.1 hours set to 70 degrees. The app instigated easily with my Home Assistant using LG ThinQ. All adjustments are available over the app including scheduling. It has one time and daily. Can adjust temp, fan speed, mode, power. It also shows current power usare and past usage. All information is available on Home Assistant also. The remote also has all of the functions and causes the ac to make tones as you make changes. The tones are different for different functions which is nice. My only complaint so far is that the remote buttons and screen have no backlight and the buttons do not glow in the dark. The words on the buttons are also small and difficult to read. However I don't use the remote much anyway. My old window ac would sometimes wake me up when the compressor kicked on or off. This LG 6000 simply sounds like a very quiet fan whispering away. I have turned mine up to medium fan just so it would make a bit more soothing fan noise to help me sleep. It was not a problem to install by myself. It is a little heavier than the ac it replaced. It was the same height (12in) and was about 1 in wider th the old on. The LG 6000 is 19.5 in wide. It is still expensive but when there was a sale price on Amazon I got it. It arrived with no damage to the unit. Nothing was bent and all on the fins were in perfect condition. I also checked the serial number and mine was producen in May 2025. I have heard about quality issues in the 2023 models, but there seem to be no issues on mine yet. I did get the Asurion insurance just in case. So far it is wonderful. I will update if there are any changes 10/2025

Decent but dimensions are wrong if you need shorter
Returned, while it says it’s 12 in tall, if you have smaller windows it actually needs a 14 in opening to go in. That being said it’s a truly nice AC and quite the unit. I had high hopes for it for sure!

Completely stopped working after 1.5 years
This product worked great while it lasted. Quiet and effective. However, after 1.5 years, we got the error code "CH - 38" and the ac stopped running. After researching, this means that the refrigerant level is low. We tried all the usual tricks, unplugging and plugging in again but it wouldn't run for more than hour before the code came back. Because it's been longer than a year, it's not under warrantee anymore and LG said they can't cover it. Getting it fixed by an LG repairman is a minimum of $330 and I called appliance and HVAC repairmen in the area but they all said they don't work on window AC units. The LG customer service rep said that this is a common problem with these units...won't get an LG unit next time....

Quiet, low light, cold.
It's only been about 2 months so grain of salt, but this is what I needed. I have a fairly small bedroom, theoretically a 5k btu wpuld suffice but all the smaller window ACs are loud. This isn't. When the fan is running I LITERALLY cannot hear a compressor. I cannot sleep with any noise, and this, finally, is what I needed. It lets in very little light either. All new window AC's have styrofoam in them it seems and that bleeds in lots of light but it's very minimal with this unit. Again, only been two months, but still. It's perfect. I haven't touched any of the SMART or app stuff. It's quiet, it's cold. It's pricey but it has more than sold itself for me.

Heavy but very Quiet
I bought this 6000 BTU to use in my living/dining room area, so about the size of 2 open rooms. Let me first say that I placed into the delivery instructions to put the AC on the back side of my house. Ignored, front steps is where it laid all day waiting for someone to take it. 2nd, there was a hole about the size of a baseball on the side of the box, okay, is it time to start worrying? Then came installing the unit into window. Weight wise, it is not for weaklings. I have a 6000 BTU Haier in the bedroom, 1/2 the weight and twice the noise. So, struggled to get the unit into the window frame, and then had to lay down for a while - twas quite the workout. Before recovery, I turned the unit on. The compressor was so quiet, I thought the AC was not working. Then, in just a bit, the cool air started pouring out. Right now, I love everything about it. Nice design, nice remote, not cheaply built at all and best of all, it hardly makes a sound. Really, hardly makes any noise. I'm hoping to get 4 years, max 5 before buying another unit. Let's see.

Finally a quiet window AC
We replaced an older AC that was too noisy when the compressor turned on. The LG AC has inverter technology that allows the compressor to turn on gradually and not run at full power when it is unnecessary. As a result this AC is very quiet and works well in our bedroom.

Cools super well (if you can see the controls)
This thing kinda rocks. We had to buy it after our other AC unit got recalled. This one cools a lot better! We use it in our large bedroom (about 10x18feet) and it will actually get too cold if we set the temp too low. It does kind of a weird thing where any change you make to the fan or temp takes a couple seconds to take effect. A little odd at first but no biggie to get used to. The only issue is the labeling of the control buttons. They’re gray lettering on a black background and difficult to see if the room isn’t very brightly lit. We keep our room kinda dim at night and have to use the flashlight on our phones if we want to change a setting. Not the biggest deal but only because it’s so good at it’s job.
