I use it on my new as well as old fish poles to protect, preserve and repair the handle from damage coming out of the pole holders on the boat. It fits so well that my friend who wanted a pole like mine was fooled (by the wrap) when he tried to get one like it. The store said the manufacturer had no poles like this.
