I'm not sure if there should have been holes in the bar for the hooks to engage with, but there weren't in the unit I received. Without the holes, I can't see how it could be stable. Fortunately I had a piece of aluminium with just the right form to use as a 'hook' for the curtain bracket to hang from. It would be much better if something like this was provided.
