Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow 1 [Takamori, Asao, Chiba, Tetsuya] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow 1 Review: Japan’s Cool Hand Luke - I was expecting a decent sports manga, but this was more of a Cool Hand Luke masterpiece! There is less boxing in this volume and it’s more of a delinquent against the system. The art and paneling was ahead of its time and the story is great. My only complaint is that the humor didn’t land for me but that was minor against such an enjoyable read! Review: Classic, brilliant manga finally in English - Is it overpriced? Sure, okay. But it’s 580 pages of one of the greatest series in the history of manga. I wish it were more like $30-$35, but so be it. It’s worth every penny. Superb story, great artwork, some color cover reproduction at the beginning of the book. Excellent and highly recommended.

Good item
It arrived on time. The condition is descent. Some pages have a little damage to them and the hard cover as well. But I guess it's whatever

An excellent example of true vintage manga!
I loved this story. It’s solid and engaging. It reads smoothly, and never drags. The dynamic artwork is magnetic to the eye. I’m getting volume 2 as soon as I post this review. Great stuff!

Review of "Fighting for Tomorrow: Ashita no Joe"
The book is a nostalgic journey for fans of Ashita no Joe, capturing the essence of the legendary series. However, I found the price to be quite high for the quality provided. The print and binding are of average quality, which is disappointing given the iconic nature of the material. One significant improvement would be the inclusion of original cover art for the volumes. This addition would have elevated the book's appeal and provided a more authentic experience for fans. Overall, while the content remains timeless, the production could have been better aligned with the legacy of Ashita no Joe.

I have discovered gold from the past!
This is my first time reading a 70's manga & I loved it! The characters are what sold me on this book. It's about a homeless orphaned young man with a talent for fighting & a washed up homeless boxing coach coming together after for different reasons. There is more that happens in the story & multiple wonderful characters that you will meet along the story. But it is worth reading!

It's great to finally own this classic manga. Upon reading it, the art does have an older stylized look, which reminded me of old Uncle Scrooge comics, but after a few panels, I was sucked into the story. Joe Yabuki is a tough-as-nails drifter who wanders into the bad part of town. Although he has the face of a baby, he is a gifted fighter, has a violent nature, and takes guff from no one. On his first day there, he gets into a fight, and several all-out brawls, and ends up in the slammer. An alcoholic ex-boxer sees his amazing potential and pledges to coach him into a world class boxing champion. But first, they have to survive, as trouble has a way of finding Joe. The cover price, although it is a bit expensive, is not super unreasonable. For the price, you're getting a manga many consider a masterpiece, that still holds up today. There are over 570 pages of story here, close to three regular volumes' worth of material. The paper used, although not glossy or bright white, is more than serviceable. It comes as a nicely bound hardcover, which gives this classic appropriate respect. There are a couple of colour pages at the front as well. This is the first time Ashita No Joe has been released in English, so it might not be fair to compare it to other more affordable omnibus manga that have already come out in multiple formats and are now reprinted to get collectors to double-dip. If you are interested in this manga, I highly recommend picking it up as it isn't that much overpriced. By showing your support, publishers will be more likely to continue to bring us more of these classic titles in English.
