Hopscotch Girls Presents: Mia Madison, CEO (Volume 1)

This book is so much fun! My kiddos have had a ton of fun reading Mia Madison- they are so excited to share all of their business ideas and they’re even more excited to get their own businesses started. This book sent me back to my days reading the babysitter’s club! We are all looking forward to seeing how this series unfolds.

My son—an avid middle grade reader—said he enjoyed this book! He’s a honest reviewer & a lover of books & gave it 3.5 stars out of 5. I got this book because I love the idea of a business-minded heroine—that seems like great inspiration for any young person, boy or girl. The hardcover is nicely constructed, with a glossy cover & spine. Mia Madison, CEO is a chapter book with the occasional illustration. The price point is a little high in my opinion; it’s rare for me to pay that much for a book. Still, I could see this being a good choice if you’re looking for a contemporary middle grade that might spark some entrepreneurial feelings in the kid in your life!

I liked this book so much I gifted it to two of my 5th grade students for summer reading. As an elementary school counselor, I see students benefiting from other similar-aged success stories and this just fit my students.

This was such an easy, educational and fun read! Well written, motivational and heartwarming. I finished it in 2 days and apart from some unfinished business and a clumsy ending (I will elaborate on that at the end ;) of my review), I loved it!!! Super catchy, cute cover and fun doodles and other illustrations inside! Mia Madison is an eleven-year-old kid-entrepreneur. She loves her day planners, making to-do lists and getting big shiny ideas! She’s a very likable main character. Her enthusiasm makes her almost jump off the page! She has some amazing modern parents, great teachers and the best friends. Her parents are really there for her, they have some great rules and I loved the office hours, where her mom (who has several successful businesses) gives her some amazing advice at random times and places, which made it fun :). Her best friends are true best friends, it was a joy to read about them. But there are some less supportive people in this story too, one a hater and one a former friend. What bothered me about that last one, was that we kept getting hints towards their past miscommunication finally getting resolved, but it just never happened. That was confusing and disappointing. Mia has 2 low-key businesses. But when she gets a new business idea and brings the idea to life, she soon starts struggling. Her parents had told her that she shouldn’t bite off more than she can chew. It becomes more and more clear that she did … but she keeps trying to do it all. When her parents notice, it’s them who intervene. Mia isn’t happy about how at first, but she soon realizes that it was for the best and it makes her rethink and reprioritize which leads to a great outcome. So many business terms get explained throughout this book in an understandable and fun way. And as an animal lover, I loved how many pets were part of this story. The end left me disappointed though and even rolling my eyes a little. I just don’t understand how you can write this amazing, fun and pretty realistic story and end it in a silly, completely unrealistic and unoriginal way. But overall a great read that I enjoyed a lot!

My 11 year old son loved it! He described it as an inspiring story about entrepreneurship that's approachable for kids.

This was targeted for students in grades 4 – 6? Most eight-year-old children are in 2nd or 3rd grade. How was this received Not independently packaged nor sealed, rather, as is. I do not prefer that, as I think the integrity of the book is compromised. I would have rather had it shrink wrapped. Describe the book This softcover, “non-jacketed,” children’s novel has an above average number of pages, at about (202) and measures (5½”) wide, (8”) tall, and about (0.625”) thick. Why was this published? It’s a part of a series, Hopscotch Girls, this story follows the adventures of Mia Madison, , there are limited simple that follow that page’s particular story line. This novel activates and stimulates heart, mind, and soul, in both young and older readers. It causes the reader to link-up with a broad-based swath of different relationships, through problem-solving, group efforts, and common goals. This book is about understanding; it’s about inclusion. To open to others that could be overlooked. It touches on many emotions and feelings, hidden strengths, and has an attitude of reaching out to make others feel included. The pathway to adulthood is full of many diverse people with different ideas. Efforts need to be expended to take those steps to success, though there are many challenges, which includes making new friends, to empathize with others, or at least walk their path, to understand them and their thought processes, likes, dislikes and so forth. This book offers challenges of heart and soul and mind. All in all, this makes for entertaining and fun reading without a heavy load to carry. Key characters are around the same age as the reader, so, this helps in the connection and learning process. This book offers a tad bit more of complicated reading, to advance reading skills, from grade school to the start of middle school. From cover to cover, this book is creative. I even enjoyed paging through to look at the artwork. Although this book is marketed to children aged “8 to 12,” I think it may be better suited to 10, 11, and 12 years old, consistent with the grade levels suggested, which is 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Although the story does not really demand an age limit in our family, as we like to keep our minds open to fun reading, even if it is to a younger reader. I think the book hits on what children experience, the challenges of school, friendships, family, and just having the opportunity to be creative and to dream. These are traits all should possess. I think this can keep all readers entertained, but younger readers may need to be coached about what the point of what this story is. Publishing date This book’s copyright year is 2024.
