Makes video work with dslr much easier
It looks a complicated contraption but it's really easy to set up. It's makes a big difference to making it easier to use my dslr for video work.

Perfect !!!!
I bought the HoodLoupe 3.0 before the crane attachment was available. I reviewed it on Amazon liking it for what it was designed to do and its quality, but not recommending it because it slide all over the screen on a Canon 5D Mk2.I now have purchased the crane to hold it in place and now highly recommend this valuable and necessary system for video filming on clear days with a bright sun. The HoodCrane keeps the HoodLoupe sturdily in place. The HoodLoupe went from near useless on a Canon 5D Mk2 to perfect, in my view, using the Crane. The system appears ungainly and looking at the picture of it would seem hard to stow. Not true, however. The lever portion reduces in size and fits inside the hood for easy stowing in your camera bag.

Does not fit
I should have paid attention to another review that said it did not fit newer mirrorless cameras. Also, it must be a better fit to the 3.0 rather than the 3.2. Constantly falls out. I found a perfectly acceptable (albeit ugly) solution that is completely secure (see pictures).

Great for macro photography
The Hoodcrane works great for holding the Loupe in place, allowing critical composition and focusing in macrophotography when you often find yourself on your belly. Since I use Nikon cameras, I had a concern about the crane interfering with the pop-up flash on the camera body, since Nikon uses the pop-up flash to wirelessly control Nikon flash units including their closeup flash units. By adjusting the beam that the crane uses to connect the loope carrier with the part that clamps into the hot shoe, I got everything working fine.Using the crane to mount the Loupe and hold it against the view screen, the Loupe feels and acts like part of the camera. Without the crane, the Loupe was more difficult to use, requiring a third hand.
