This stuff is so tasty, it is really not worth it to make your own for scratch, frankly I don't think I can even make it this good. Don't put too much though, it is pretty concentrated

The jar was sealed, but it has a low fill level. Not at all sweet, a little bitter, gritty, not something I'd want to eat. Maybe as a food additive in small quantities it brings desirable qualities. There is no sugar in the ingredients, so I wouldn't expect it to actually be sweet, but I wasn't expecting bitter. I'm going to order again and see if the product is any different, this doesn't seem right. The Japanese brand I ordered alongside it was markedly different; sugar was added, but most noticeably it wasn't at all bitter, and I could almost eat it out of the jar. Edit: Ok, the second jar came in. It's not gritty, even a tiny bit sweet almost. Still a low fill level (still sealed perfectly), and still very, very different from the Japanese brand. There's almost a barbecue sauce taste, salty but not overly so, still slightly bitter, but I think this is how it's supposed to taste. I wouldn't want to eat it straight, but I can imagine it being a welcome addition to various dishes.

No beans in this, just wheat flour. Tastes bad.
