Review: Am-Tech Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Lopper - Robust and well made at reasonable price. The blades are slightly over 3 inches in length which allows one to tackle quite thick branches up to about 3cm without too much trouble, depending on hardness of the wood. The overall length from tip of blades to end of handles when fully extended is 39 inches, which gives good reach. The only caveat is that the cushioned handles are made from a type of foam which, from previous experience, starts to disintegrate after a very short time. To preserve the covering, I now cover the foam with Duck tape. UPDATE: I have just bought a second set of loppers after the twist turn mechanism broke on one handle after about 5 years of heavy use. The foam handles look just as vulnerable so I have again covered them with Duck tape immediately on receipt. However, I do like these loppers, so am willing to forgive this design flaw. UPDATE: After another 5 years, I have just bought my 3rd set of Amtech Loppers! Review: Premium branch lopper - Competitive price, quickly delivered. Materials engineered to good standard. Will cut branches over 4cm with confidence. Ratchet function is great on larger branches and blade is sturdy. The only annoying aspect of this tool are the telescopic arms. They lock into place with a quarter turn. However they also unlock from position with a quarter turn anticlockwise. Sadly this happens all too often when cutting. Durability; I've spent 2 days systematically chopping up a felled tree & they're still going strong. In summary a great tool, good price & will get the job done efficiently. Will annoy you after 30 mins of cutting in all likely hood.

Cut 30mm shoots with ease
Compared to my non ratchet side-cut loppers, these are a doddle to use. They are not the lightest but they are sturdy and well made. The ratchet mechanism makes cutting thick branches so easy, and they make a very clean cut.

Did not stay sharp for long
Arrived on time, looked good and strong, they cut well the first time, after that with each use it became harder to cut,at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Good quality and excellent value
I'm very pleased with these loppers. Excellent quality for the money and easy to use. We've made great use of them and they easily cut through small branches without too much effort. The ratchet allows cutting of slightly larger boughs again without having to use to much effort. Having the ability to extend the handles is also a bonus and this doesn't detract from the effectiveness of the loppers.

Not great quality
Are not made of tough quality and became blunt very quickly

Am-Tech Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Loppers
I had a similar anvil lopper for well over 25 years (no name on it) the only difference was, the handles were of a fixed length, it was a great lopper, during the time I had the loppers it did a great deal of work but towards the latter end the anvil started to wear allowing the knife to slip past the anvil not allowing the branch to be cut cleanly. I purchased other loppers (as I was unable to buy spares for this lopper) but none of them came up to the expectations of the loppers which I had, until I purchased the Am-Tech Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Lopper. Very pleased with it. Can spares be purchased for this Lopper as the anvil and knife are a direct replacement for my old lopper ?

Serious bit of kit
An example where the photo does not quite do justice to the end product. That's a double-edge sword (no pun intended) because you might get something a bit larger than you had intended yet also get something rather better than expected. These are big loppers with a very substantial jaw and quite a long handle (compared to the 'normal' ones I had previously) in the non-extended position, sturdily built but also, due to their size, quite heavy. They work very well for branches up to about 4cm max when the locking handles are extended but if you're cutting smaller branches they might seem too big for the job. After mine arrived I did start considering if I needed another pair that were a bit more 'handy'. But I am not at all disappointed in the quality and functionality of these loppers - if you're after quite a serious bit of kit, this is your man.

Great Buy
These loppers are great. They easily cut both old and new branches with ease. The ratcheting lever works perfectly and so far reliably. I have cut dead branches up to 1.5 inches with ease. the steel handles don't flex much and when extended lock in place well. I like to cut branches up right in my trash can and these allow a quick single cut on the small ones and the ratchet takes over on the thicker ones. There was no markings as to where they are made i'm guessing Taiwan as they seem better then the Chinese ones I've had in the past, but i'm not sure. It took a long time to get them, at least 6 weeks but it was worth it. For the price including shipping they were the best deal I could find anywhere on the internet, so stop looking. I have owned many pairs of similar cheap loppers and these are the best value for the money. I usually get 2 maybe 3 years out of them before I try to cut something to big. Haha

Am-Tech, Troncarami telescopico a cricchetto
