United Ortho Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot, Medium, Black

I was very skeptical in general. I had ankle fusion surgery and it was my time to start to walk again. I'd been off my feet almost literally for around 6-7 weeks. I was scared to put pressure. The Cam boot really provided support coupled with the most important thing for me... confidence to take steps again. Fast forward to 2 weeks into re-walking with this boot. I'm doing great! I'm making strides everyday. I'm very confident in this support from the boot and look forward to fondly putting it away in a couple of months. You can rest easy with this purchase. It's a great decision. It's works great. It's also made with durability in mind and believe it or not. It's really comfortable too. It's for a little weight it but is easy to put in and take off and on again. It's quality. That's for sure.

Don't let the el cheap-o price of this boot fool you: its a great boot! It's constructed well -- if not exactly the same-- as mid-priced boots. It lacks the fancy name but who cares?! I actually bought TWO boots here on Amazon (this one obviously) the one that claimed to be "low profile" really was NOT!! And it was more than twice the price of this one. However, Low Profile Boot -- which had a really nice fancy label -- had an impressive video & important looking pictures of the technology & proven statements that it was the same height as a sneaker. It also hyped up a rounder bottom. I wore it for 2 weeks, around the house only, and the bottom (which the rounder bottom was scary-slippery) started to peel off!! Here's the real deal: Low Profile just looked lower on the outside. The rocker bottom also aids in it looking lower. It is maybe 1-2 cm lower, in reality, than this boot. It was also really uncomfortable. The inside sleeve didn't go around my calves well, and there was something that dug into the inside of my ankle which was right where my incision was. The little pieces of foam (2 for the Low Profile Boot) were very thin and wore out within the two weeks I wore the boot around the house only. This boot is very comfortable. It doesn't dig in in any specific place and has 4 thicker pads of foam that hold up really well. I've worn this boot around the house and outside. Holding up very well with quite rigorous use. I wear a size 8.5 women's shoe and have on-the-larger size calves and this size Medium is perfect. You could go up to a size 10 I would think as there is quite a lot of room in the front. Some suggestions for the newbies: (things I wish someone would have told me) My suggestion is to get an "Even Up" leveler for your other shoe so you don't get a sore back or knees. You can search for it here on Amazon. It's about $30. The first time you use the boot, don't pull the Pull Up tabs out yet!! Fit the sleeve first, then, while sitting in a chair and the boot on the floor, put your sleeved leg inside the boot. Push your heel as back as you can. If you have tightness in the Achilles, you will not want to pull the Pull Up tab out until your ligaments/tendons have stretched enough to put your foot in at a 90 degree angle. So save the Pull Up tab until later. (it has Velcro to stick to the sides of the foot sleeve to keep it in place) If your Achilles is tight, stretch it out before you put the boot on for the day. Once you are in the boot, secure your toes first, then the ankle, then work your way up the boot. It's a little tricky with the Velcro straps at first. Mine would get all tangled up or fall off or stick to something else - if you stick the Velcro onto itself when removing, you'll always know exactly where the strap is. If the toe and ankle Velcro are too long, don't cut them!! Just bend it back and tuck it into the strap holder. Then it won't be hanging out. The blue inflator does work -- you just need to follow the arrows to tighten it when inflating, and loosen when deflating. Don't blow it up too much until you get a feel for how tight you want/need it to be. It will also POP if you inflate it too much or try to take it off when it is still inflated. Good luck... sorry about you wearing a boot -- but you are going to save a few hundred bucks buying this cheap gem!

I had a full ankle replacement 11 weeks ago and because I am also immunocompromised, have faced infection and healing issues. I have thus had a second surgery for grafting in that time and am facing more. I am STILL non weight bearing at 11 1/2 weeks (yes, ready to lose my mind, lol) but it is the little things like a new and clean boot that help! I have a very thin calf from three months of inactivity and my size small from the doctor (which they price gouged me $150!) was ready to do the tango on it's own, it was needing a good scrub! These are made so thick that they do not dry fast. Believe, you..me..I tried and ended up wearing it damp for days. Eww. Today I put on a clean boot. I wear a size 8 1/2 shoe in ladies normally and I bought the small - which normally I would buy the medium according to their size chart. However, I was floating in my other small from the doc, so I did get the small. It is snug. If you are not bony legged, trust them...the chart is accurate. I HIGHLY recommend this boot and not just for the price point. It is well made, comfortable and it arrived fast. I was desperate! This boot is actually better made than the one I got from my surgeon. If this continues on much longer, I will buy one more and toss the one from her. Buy this..you won't be sorry. Trust me...this is surgery no. 5 on the ankle. I'm a pro. Haha

I have a three-fracture ankle... two on the tibia (one side needed a plate, one stable) and one on the fibula which just needed screws). Pain is really severe, although getting better day by day. Suture area (where the implants are) is absolutely excruciating at times, so those pads that come with this are clutch. NOTE: I am a euro size 39 (in USA, I'll wear an 8 but sometimes go into a shoe size 8.5 because years of walking barefoot have smashed me slightly wider than most women in an 8). The Medium in this device. ended up being correct for my size, but with a caveat I'll explain in a moment. My husband was recommended by his podiatrist to get into this model. when a year ago he had a much more stable ankle fracture (no surgery required in his case) and so when he knew I was going to get my painful cast off, he ordered me one. Indeed, the one given me by the hospital was nice and tall and came as a huge relief after that awful cast, but I certainly did not like putting weight on my foot as it seemed to hurt all over (anterior ligaments and the heel but especially those suture areas). I was hobbling for 48 hours in that thing, enjoying its compression but still hopping in crutches and a walker. So then I get into the Ortho Air Cam Walker and it's a world of difference. First day I was able to put weight on without pain. No more hobbling with the walker. I still grab stuff as I move around the house, but this thing was initially a really comfy tool. See, there will come a time in your fracture healing when your doctor will say you should be putting weight on the foot. The pressure actually helps the bones heal, applied at the right time after surgery/cast off/injury, however your doctor dictates. The boot is the first step in getting that weight applied (incrementally.... listen well to your physiotherapist and your orthopaedic specialist). But nerve damage may prevent patient (moi) from understanding correct boot fit. NOW... Here I was in the Small, with tips of toes visible at the front of the boot, so the length is maybe not totally right, but the heel is so roomy, I gotta use every pad and some of the ones cannibalized from my hospital-issue boot, to make my foot come down stably, and not have that weird roomy ankle area be an issue. that seems really weird, considering I am on the wide side. If you are a narrow 8, this boot may be the wrong model. Or you gotta find some memory foam to cushion between the cushy lining and the outer plastic skeleton. After the numbness wore off, I realized that the boot's exoskeleton-like frame was actually hitting my ankle from below. So no wonder I couldn't last more than 2 hours in the boot before I had to lie down. I had to return the Small but the medium ended up being correct for my size. Still had to pad with massive amounts of memory foam. That's just my experience. Hope this might help some other small framed female with size 8 or 8.5 feet.

So far this product has been really good for my Posterior Tibial Tendonitis, probable stress fracture and extra Navicular bone sticking into my sore tendon. The main reason I'm writing this review is to help women decide between the Small or Medium size in the tall boot. I wear a womens 8-8.5 which is in the "dead zone" right between the two sizes. I definitely didn't want it too small or too big. I had been wearing my husband's Large size low boot while I waited 3 weeks for an appointment with the podiatrist. That boot was so big, it couldn't get tight enough, allowing my foot to rattle around in it. It made things worse because what I needed was stability. BUT it did come in handy to try and figure out which size to buy. I took the measurements of his boot and compared them to my foot length which is about 9 3/4". The Small size is about 10" long (inside measurement when the padding is in place), so I felt reasonably sure it would fit fine. I ordered it and received it promptly. What a huge difference having the proper size makes, not only for a comfortable fit, but eliminating unnecessary excess weight and bulk! I have about 1/4-1/2" from my toe to the front edge of the boot, which is perfect. While his short boot cut into my calf in various places, even with the foam pads that come with it, the tall boot in the correct size does not do that at all. I get around just fine on it all day and that includes walking on uneven, hilly terrain on my property. (And the spots are from taking off the plastic bag I was wearing to paint before washing out my brush with a hose! Don’t tell my podiatrist!) I had dreaded having to wear it for 6 weeks but I don't even notice it much at all. Nice surprise! Hopefully this helps women in the size 8-8.5 range make the right choice of boot size, especially since our size falls right between the 2 options. The photo looks really bulky but I'm over 5'8" with normal calf size and it doesn't look so chunky in real life. I think the angle is distorting it because I'm standing over it shooting downward. I recommend this boot, especially since the podiatrist wanted $150 and this one was a much better price! I just had to wait a couple of days to get it.

This boot did what it was supposed to do: stabilize and support. The air bladder helps with comfort and fit, and it feels secure once strapped correctly. It’s bulky (all walking boots are), but it made getting around way more manageable. Pros: supportive, adjustable air cushioning, sturdy build, good traction Cons: bulky/heavy, can rub at pressure points until you dial in the fit; sizing matters Bottom line: Solid walking boot that provides real support. Worth it if you need stability and comfort.

My son had a broken foot. After his foot got somewhat better he was given a foot sandal boot to wear. It didn’t work for him and he was in more pain. So he didn’t even wear it. After searching we decided to go for this. Let me tell you this was good support for him. He finally could walk to his classes without hurting. It fit just right on him. The quality is really good. Only thing was when he had to walk up stairs to get to classes and walk down them was not so fun when wearing this. But still my son preferred it as his foot was not in pain. His foot has gotten better since he wore this to protect it from getting more injured.

First off - I don’t understand why none of these boot sellers give a calf measurement because that to me is the most important fit after shoe size. I’ve been hobbling on a giant boot from the doctor just so I can get a liner that wraps around my calf, this is my 3rd boot because the liner shreds from the Velcro . Not everyone has little sticks for legs!!! This boot is 1/3 the cost of my doctors boot and it’s pretty comfy so it’s worth it to me once I made a few changes. The worst thing is the ball pump - instead of sitting on top of the cousioned liner it’s sewn all the way in and the hard base digs into your leg just below your knee when you walk. I cut around it and pushed it through so I can access it easier and the hard bulk of it can’t be felt. If you don’t like it sticking up (see photo) I’m sure it can be glued down but I don’t care that it sticks out. I’ve been in a boot for 2 1/2 months I’m over it, I just want comfort. The boot is solid- same weight as all of my other boots and the Velcro is strong. Having already spent $500 on the doctors office boots- I had low expectations for a $50 boot. For what I paid I’m ok with it and feel it’ll do the job. If it only lasts a month- I’m still saving money by just buying another one at this low price.

Sprained my ankle or foot lol and certainly does the trick.

The boot fits perfectly, thanks to it the person I bought it for can walk better after ankle surgery and thus have a better recovery process. I totally recommend it. La recomendó el doctor, esta marca en especifico. La bota se ajusta perfectamente, gracias a ella a quien se la compre ya puede caminar mejor después de la cirugía en el tobillo. Lo recomiendo totalmente.

Excelente producto y de muy buena calidad, yo lo utilicé en un esguince de tobillo de 2do grado y me ayudó a caminar y acelerar mi recuperación, además de que con la nota me sentí más independiente. Muy recomendado y a un excelente precio.
