Simply Gershwin: The Music of George & Ira Gershwin: 20 of Their Most Popular Works

Good book . Twenty easy to read pieces of music . Lyrics are included, notes are large. The book is for piano but it works for a solo flute. There are a very few places where a B foot is required. But that does not get in the way with the over all enjoyment of seeing how Gershwin constructed these well known songs . Especially Rhapsody in Blue.

Ottimo testo. Ho anche un testo con gli spartiti più da musica classica. È semplice se si sa leggere musica. Non è per un dilettante che cerca i "TABS". In genere si compra una collezione di questo genere come passo intermedio verso gli spartiti originali. È quello che sto facendo io. Chi suona chitarra o jazz farebbe bene a cercare altrove.

This book is elementary, but excellent for that level, and it's an honest title. Many songs are included. I'm sending it to a young pianist in Norway, who is not so familiar with theGershwins.

MY wife love to hear me play the piano and sing her the songs. I sang for her "Embraceable You", "Love Is Here to Stay", "They Can't Take That Away from Me", "Someone to Watch over me" and ""Rhapsody in Blue". When I was at the University many years ago, my advanced piano instructor assigned me to George Gershwin music. I had played his Prelude I and II, which this book has the simple version of Prelude II. I also have the complete more complex version of Rhapsody in Blue. Our older Baldwin Upright piano had broken keys and was out of tone. I had gotten it from my mother years ago. We gave it to the Salvation Army and got a new Roland F-120 digital grand piano with volume control. The old piano weight over a ton and this new one weight only 150 pounds. These tones in this Simply Gershwin music book are easy to play. You can play them over and over again and not get tried of them.
