Tasty, Pricey
unMEAT Plant-Based Tuna Flakes in Sunflower Oil is the bomb! The texture and flavor are close to the real thing (and all without killing the fishies). It is great as the primary ingredient to tuna salad for a delicious and nutritious tuna salad sandwich. This is a high quality product. The container is in a traditional can form with an ease of use pop top lid. Anyone looking for a plant based alternative to tuna need look not further. There are two complaints that can be legitimately leveled against the product: first, inside the can there is just as much liquid as alternative tuna; second, unMEAT Plant-Based Tuna Flakes in Sunflower Oil is expensive. Still, highly recommended.

The best vegan dupe for tuna salad I've ever had.
I rarely leave reviews but this is important as a service to other vegans out there who miss tuna (I don't miss eating the actual animal product, but tuna salad was a favorite and so easy before I stopped eating animals). This product is absolutely wonderful as a dupe for tuna in a tuna salad. I am really thrilled to have tried it and I ordered a case of 12 before I had even finished the first three trial cans. It is a little bland so rather than just mixing with Vegenaise, I also add a bit of mustard for more flavor. It is delicious in a sandwich or added to salad. I haven't used it for any other purposes and don't know if I will, but now this is all I eat for lunch. Texture is perfect, no weird smell, it is just perfection for the vegan as long as you can tolerate gluten because I'm thinking it is a tofu and wheat gluten mix. Double check if that is an issue for you, it's ok for me to I didn't pay super careful attention.

Yum yum, no guilt, cruelty or mercury.
This is the very best tuna replacement I've ever had. It has a nice flavor and mixes well with beans or green salad. I buy the Sunflower Oil type since it has the least amount of sodium and most of the the oil drains off.

Just like the animal variety
Absolutely love this stuff! I like adding it to salads, or making vegan tuna sandwiches. I want to try in a vegan tuna noodle casserole and see if anyone notices! 😃

Pretty good approximation.
Has a pretty good taste and texture. Could be enhanced to taste more like the real thing.

Delicious!
I was skeptical to try this, but damn was it good!! There’s not a lot of vegan options where I live, so I have resorted to online shopping for several of my go to’s. This has now become a go to for my family.

Tasty stuff!
I am so happy to have found this product. I am not vegan, but strict vegetarian (15 years). One of the things I missed was a Tuna sandwich. This is very tasty & satifies my craving. I just mix it like regular Tuna Salad. I am so happy I discovered this.

Perfect plant-based tuna alternative
So good! So glad I finally decided to try this stuff. I used to buy “Tuno” from the Wegmans near my home when I lived upstate, and loved it. But I moved back to NYC a couple years ago and neither the Wegmans nor Whole Foods or any other grocery stores I’ve browsed down here have it or anything similar. UnMEAT’s vegan tuna is such a great plant based’s alternative. Great taste, texture, portion (6.3 compared to Tuno’s 5oz), price, and it’s filling, too! Huge bonus points that the cans include pull tabs, making it so easy to open them on-the-go, at the office, etc. Quick and easy protein-packed lunch. (Bit of calcium, iron, and potassium, too!) Just beware of any additional spices/seasoning you may add, particularly salt or anything containing it, as the tuna already starts out with 610mg (27% daily value). Or at least, that goes for the ones in sunflower oil, anyway. Overall, 5/5. 100% will order again in the future.
