um where do you put the stick when lighting it. when it touches the floor of the coffin, it burns out.

There are three holes on each side of the coffin (for a total of six). Just place the stick in one of the holes so it doesn't touch the bottom of the coffin. Hopefully, this will solve your problem with this product.

Will this work for the kodo style incense like Nippon Kodo or Shoyeido?

I don't believe it will work. The cut outs for the incense sticks do not have metal rings. So the Kodo would burn down to the wood box and scorch the box or possible burn it up.
