Total Mole Death
I've tried everything and so far this is the only reliable mole killing tool. I kill moles regularly, within 48 hours of finding garden and lawn destruction, I pull a dead mole out and place it on a fence post to warn other vermin. Anyway, these things are great. I have 8 of them because I find that a single mole moves into my yard and destroys 3-4 different areas, so I make sure to heavily trap each zone. Beware: about one in five comes out alive, and I don't want them to suffer so you have to dispatch them with a shovel. For this reason, I check them several times a day if possible so a the mole doesnt have to suffer.

Not necessary humane but I am totally okay with it!
Gophers started tearing up my lawn and garden. I had put poison bait several times with little success. I had also used a common gopher trap with sparse success. Finally took the plunge and bought two gopher hawk traps. They are expensive but they work! In two days, I caught one on my lawn, and one in the garden.Only problem is that in once case, the trap caught an arm of a gopher, and in the other case, it caught the nose. Both gophers were alive and squeaking and I had to do some "extra processing". I don't feel bad and I don't have an ounce of regret. These critters had been terrorizing my yards for far too long. They got what they deserved! This product works and it is all I care.5 stars.

Would give it 10 stars if I could!
So I did a review yesterday for one star first time I tried to use the trap literally couldn’t get it to set. Gave them the benefit of the doubt called the customer service line left a message last night. They called me back today. Said that sometimes happens in shipping. They told me to just bop the side of the black area and it would reset everything. I tried it worked like a charm. set the thing up and I had the mole within one hour. I have never had a trap work that good and I have tried a ridiculous amount of traps. I literally could not be happier with the company, the customer service, and the product.!

Questioning the performance now of this trap.
I've used the GopherHawk for years to fight Pocket Gophers. But they are winning! I've purchased several of these traps, but am seriously puzzled as NOW - running 100% of my placing the traps - none are catching the "enemy!" Gophers are now pushing dirt around and inside the trap portion itself - without setting it off. No Gopher's caught in months! I also note the tunnels in our yards now, seem to be over one foot deep, and feel like my probe has entered a "room," not a tunnel. So am very disappointed in the failure over past months in catching a single Pocket Gopher.

GopherHawk Trap
Easy to set up, but you do need to dig out a deeper hole for this trap. Very easy to tell when the trap has activated as orange stripe becomes visible. Disposing of trapped animal fairly easy with no need to touch the carcass.

Works well
Works well and did not disappoint. Great product. I’ve had a vole problem in my backyard and now with the Gopherhawk I can take back my backyard one vole at a time.

Not really working for me
In theory, I'm sure these work great. But my ground is just too soft. Everything feels like a tunnel. I've had much better success using the Trapline Gophinator style traps. Of course, that requires digging up more area, but that's what is working for me.

Better for gophers than moles
I have about 6 of these and have been using them for three years. The advantage of these over traditional gopher traps (eg, the ones with jaws that you push onto the tunnel) is that you don’t have to dig a (fairly) large hole in your yard because the Gopher Hawks catch gophers no matter which way they are traveling in the tunnel so you only need one (with conventional traps you need two- one in each direction of the tunnel, since you don’t know which way they’re coming); Gopher Hawks are much faster to set and remove than conventional traps; you can visually see when GH have been triggered; easy to empty out so no messing with gophers bodies. I took off one star because for moles I feel the Wire Tex Gopher Eliminator is better because they work better on the shallower mole tunnels, whereas the Gopher Hawk tends to fall over in the shallow tunnels unless you brace it. Check out YouTube for tips on both the Gopher Hawk and Mole Eliminator.Tip: I spray paint the tops of my gopher Hawks pink or some other bright color so they are easier to spot than black plastic in the bushes. If the trap is really out of sight, I’ll put out a pink wire irrigation flag (garden section at Home Depot) or a pink plastic ribbon on front of the bush to remind me of where the trap is. In theory, you don’t need to leave them out more than a couple days if the tunnel is active, but life gets busy and then I forget where I put them
