Best digital smoker I’ve ever owned – WiFi makes it effortless!
I upgraded to the Masterbuilt 710 WiFi Digital Smoker (Model MB20070924) a couple of months ago and it has completely changed how I smoke meats. The vertical design is space-efficient yet massive inside with 711 square inches of cooking space across four chrome-coated racks — easily handles multiple pork butts, briskets, ribs, or several whole chickens at once. The WiFi connectivity is a game-changer. I can monitor and adjust temperature, set timers, and get alerts right from my phone while I’m out running errands or watching the game. Temperature holds rock steady, and the automatic wood chip loader makes it simple to add smoke flavor without constantly opening the door and losing heat. Setup was straightforward, it preheats quickly for an electric smoker, and cleanup is surprisingly easy thanks to the removable components. The black finish looks sharp on my patio too. I’ve smoked everything from brisket to salmon to jerky with consistent, competition-level results every time. If you’re serious about smoking but want modern convenience without babysitting a fire all day, this Masterbuilt 710 is outstanding. Excellent build quality, huge capacity, and the WiFi feature is worth every penny. Highly recommend!

Satisfied
I love this smoker! But i did make some mods to make it better. First, I removed the wood chip tray rack and replaced the little chip tray with a large stainless wood chip box that sits right on the heating element so that it will smoke at low temps, and I don't need to use the external auto wood feeder. Second, I added a smoke stack to keep the smoke up and out plus it just looks cool like a real wood smoker. Third, i painted the back with high temp paint to match again to look like a real smoker all around. The wifi is a little finicy as you have to re-add the device everytine its been powered off but the 4 temp prope plot is awesone!

Masterbuilt Not What They Used to Be (Model 710 wifi)
Finally getting around to writing this for whomever looks at Masterbuilt smokers. Especially this 710 wifi model. This model definitely has issues. Wifi kept dropping quit using it after the first time. Way too frustrating. I just went back to using my standalone probe I'd been using for years. For the actual cooking this worked great the first year. Only used it 4 or 5 times. Second year the first 4 times ran with no issue. Then the next time the smoker just turned off/reset. Go out there and found dinner sitting in the smoke nice and raw... Set temp/time again and worked fine. Ate a REALLY late dinner. Wife was like. You turned it on, right. I'm like, I seriously turned it on. Next time used this and it worked, no problem (I kept checking on it to make sure we had dinner this time and no problems). So, I'm like, maybe it was me. Then the next time I used it (I went out to check on it) and again it reset again and raw meat... This time she's like, maybe it wasn't you. Ugh. Used it and it again worked without issue. Final time, I go out there and set it, but it just keeps shutting off and giving the model/version. So yeah. Not even 15 uses out of this for $350. Doesn't seem like they sell control units for this one either. Only has a 1 year warranty. Start reading other reviews and find that I'm not the only one. Seems quality dropped dramatically. Knock offs control units are $70+ and don't have wifi either, not that I care. But I can't bring myself to put anymore into this after this experience. I had an older model I used for 11 years and the LCD screen went bad after 9 years and kept getting worse. The lines quit lighting up or lit up in weird ways. So you couldn't read the temp. So I would be like this starts at 175 or 185 (can't remember now) and click the + to set the right temperature and it still worked. Just had to count it out correctly and ignore the gibberish on the screen. Problem was no replacement control unit for that model and they used some custom made (4 pin I think it was) LCD module (I couldn't a replacement for anywhere) so I couldn't mod the board. So finally got sick of that and upgraded to this. I was happy it had 4 built in probes and wifi. Ugh. Little did I know. I really wish I still had that old model now...

Very happy with my new toy, but DON'T trust Rufus.
Overall, this is a solid smoker and good value for the money. Assembly was a snap. Only small item about that is that the legs have a fairly large bolt head and your typical tool set probably does not have a socket large enough. Easily addressable in that you can use channel locks or a spanner (crescent for us Americans) wrench to tighten them down. A couple of things to be aware of: 1. Rufus says that an initial breaking-in period is optional. According to the manufacturer, that is not true. Manual requires a 3-hour burn time before first use and that includes using wood. 2. For any wood used, do NOT use wood pellets, as the owner's manual clearly states not to use them. Other than that, I am quite happy with my new toy.

Finally bit the bullet
Have been looking for another vertical smoker since my last one died on me. Finally bit the bullet and I’m glad I did. Being able to control the temperature and get meat temperature directly to my phone allows me to be in full control without even being close. Assembly was easy and now I’m back to smoking meats to meal prep for the week with ease. I wish it came with more than one meat probe but it’s definitely better than none and they aren’t too expensive to grab more. I was smart and bought a cover this time, the Vegas heat won’t be the reason another smoker gives out on me.

Best Electric Vertical Smoker
This is the best electric smoker that I've ever owned. You must order the 4 meat probes (sold separately on Amazon) to have full visibility of everything that you are smoking, but it is worth it. My ribs came out absolutely perfect. I could see what temprature each slab was at, and better rotate them. The fact that I didn't have to be standing eighth there to get a progress report was amazing.

The unit “smokes” well, wi-fi and app are terrible
Just finished up some chicken legs, nice and smoky flavor, unit worked well EXCEPT they design the smoker so EVERY time you open the door the Wi-Fi is disabled and you have to re-pair it again, you have to go thru the whole process, name the unit, pick a network, enter network password etc. It would be like every time you started your car you’d have to completely set up your iPhone to work with your infotainment system. Not just re-enter a password but a complete set up like the first time when the car was new. I have no idea why a designer would think it’s a good idea, can’t be for safety because the control panel is still functional with the door open, it’s just the app that goes dead. You’ll spend more time re-pairing with the app than cooking. Save the extra 35 dollars and just get the non wi-fi version, the control panel is located on top and is easier to get to, the wi-fi version has the control panel close to the ground and you have to bend down or get on your knees to adjust it, but I figured with the wi-fi I wouldn’t need to very often, little did I know. P.S. it’s not defective, it’s right in the manual that you have to re-pair after the door is opened. Update: The requirement to re-pair means completely starting over like the first time. Because it doesn’t re-pair automatically to your phone and wi-fi all the other historical feature (session graphs) and saved items is useless as it all gets deleted when you re-pair. Think of it as every time you woke your iPhone up you had to set up the wi-fi network from scratch and all your saved wi-fi networks disappeared. The location of the wi-fi antenna next to the ground is just unthinkable, I’ll be getting an extension cable and will figure out how to mount it on top. I don’t think they actually used a software or wi-fi engineer to design it. It smokes well although the chip bin is too small so it needs refilling every 1/2 hour or so. I’d never buy this again because the so called wi-fi feature is pointless.

Avoid masterbuilt smokers
Hi. I do not recommend this smoker. A rubber piece on the inside fell off after first use.Masterbuilt customer service was ready to send me a new smoker after I disabled the one I had. Then all of a sudden they said it was cosmetic and they won’t exchange it after telling me they would. If I would have disabled it I’d be out a smoker now. Not to mention they couldn’t even tell me the purpose of the rubber part. And the wifi is crap even when your less than 30 feet from smoker
