Go to a Redwing Store!!!
****NEWS FLASH****. There is actually a place you can go and try these boots on first and make sure you have the right size! It’s called a “store”. There are nice people there that will help you too. It’s amazing.Seriously thought, I told the guy I was a 10 1/2 and he brought me 9 1/2 without telling me. He talked me through how they should fit now and how they will fit after a few weeks of wear. Please support the dwindling number of retailers out there. It was the SAME price as it is on amazon and they actually fit.Great boots by the way, but that is old news to anyone reading this. :).

Go to war (or the grocery store [or even a grocery store war]) in boots made to endure
Get fitted in a store before ordering online, as others have suggested; turns out I needed a full size down as opposed to half, resulting in unnecessary exchanges.Initial impressions (few days)- gorgeous, handcrafted details, thick, durable leather, tough-as-nails outer sole and strong hardware. The break-in has been absolutely brutal; three days in, I had to give them a break after my heels blistered, burst and bruised. My feet are flatter and more gnarled than the average pair, but you can likely anticipate a similar experience if correctly sized. For the uninitiated, this is simply the way it's done- no pain, no gain.I'm rating in good faith that these will be incredible boots once I've thoroughly broken them in and will update on that front later. I can already see the leather beginning to wrinkle and mold itself around my ankles, so progress is painstakingly being made.In any case, I wanted a tough pair of daily boots that make me feel prepared if I wake up and the sky is burning, and I suspect I've got em now.*3 Week Update*I'm unsure if they're finally broken in, or if I've developed thick calluses in all the right places (probably both), but they're finally wearable without bandaging my feet every morning. I've had occasional circulation issues in one foot (it's slightly larger than the other), but this seems to be diminishing. They feel incredible to walk in and are surprisingly comfortable. Sometimes they catch compliments, which is neat-o.My... sole... complaint is that my pair had a minor manufacturing defect- the tongues are off-center by a large margin, roughly 75/25, so when laced up, one side of my foot is barely covered at the top of the boot. It annoys me a little in the morning; I always have to smooth the tongue out carefully while lacing up to prevent it from crumpling into no coverage on one side. Perhaps it can be modified (local Red Wing store said they do repairs/ sole swaps, etc.), but it's hardly pressing- I never notice during the day.All in all, excellent thus far. Time will tell if they hold up to their laurels, or if they'll be caught resting. One thing's for sure- these boots were made for walkin, and they'll walk all over poo.*6 Month Update*It's midwinter, fairly mild this year by most standards. I daily these in the suburbs/ office, 2-3 miles per day, and they've been up to the task. They're not ideal for snow/ ice, of course- even with mink oil, they're not truly waterproof or heat retentive- but they suffice, if you don't mind mild discomfort. What sold me on these boots, and continues to do so, is their incredible resilience. While they've begun to accumulate a nick here, a crack there, and a tiny rough patch over yonder, they've largely retained their shape despite daily use, occasional jogging and all-weather exposure. The partially lopsided heels have betrayed the secret of my janky walk, but otherwise, the soles are surprisingly intact, and have only suffered surface wear. And let's not neglect the laces. I can't tell if they're somehow extraordinary or if the eyelets are just soft, rounded and gentle. Perhaps a bit of both. Whatever the case, the laces show zero signs of fraying, with a barely discernable wisp of fuzzy edging at most. I've never seen laces hold up this well, this long before. And yes, I am an actual human being expressing mild excitement over shoelaces on an Amazon review. This is real life.Anyways, it's also a bit amusing to note that my heels have developed deeply rooted calluses in response to these boots, but I couldn't care less. They feel superbly nimble and beautifully personal. This might sound odd, but I feel a sort of bond with these boots, as one might with an old dog. I've shaped them with my feet, they've returned the favor upon my heels, and consequently, we've both adapted to fit each other better than any shoes before them. Bearing in mind how long they're reputed to last, how Red Wing will resole them for you to yield additional years of life... Well, it feels like it could just be the beginning of something special.

Incredible Boots -- Indoors or Out
After walking a year in these boots, I felt obligated to write a review. I ordered a full size smaller than what I typically wear and, after breaking them over a few months, they feel like they were custom made for me. These Red Wings are nice enough to wear in an office environment with jeans, but strong enough to wear over a bed of nails. I've put them to the test in all types of terrain and they never cease to amaze me. The Iron Rangers were built for miners and I've worn mine through mud, snow, rocks and water. After a cleaning and some mink oil, they look better than new because of the patina. These will last me my lifetime and are now the only boots I wear when I travel outdoors. Get yours.

Beautiful, Comfortable, Well Made
Got these in the mail today. I heard so many reviews about the women's Iron Rangers having poor quality and I really wanted the men's version since it has a slightly wider toe box and better make quality. Having small feet I was happy to find that Amazon sold the men's size 5 which I couldn't find anywhere else. These seem ever so slightly used. There are some scuffs on the toe and a scuff on the side. I'm not worrying since I'm hard on shoes and will probably scuff them up within a couple days. Hope these last me several years.Update: I've been wearing these for at least a few hours per day. They'll take some time to to get warn in and when they do they'll be amazing. But right now they tire my feet out after about 6 hours of wear. I've scuffed them up and they look more and more beautifully warn in. I recommend these if you can afford them.

Great Boots !! Red Wings Iron Ranger Copper Rough and Tough
Had placed 2 orders . The first pair were too small ( I normally wear a size 10 D in most boots so I ordered full size down to a 9 D ).Since they were too small - I returned for a size 9 1/2 D . ( these fit and feel a whole lot better now ).Pricey boots that took me 6 months to save up for . ( at this price Red Wings should throw in all cleaning and care products )..,I was a little disappointed because I did not receive these boots in a Red Wings Box . I am going to ask Amazon if they can find me one ( again - for this price , I would like the original box for now and future ).Do order half size down . Full size down was way off . ( although with thicker socks this winter I may of gotten away with my regular size ).

Red Wing Iron Rangers - They Make Life Better
I bought the Iron Rangers, and they are the second pair of Red Wings I've owned. I love the 6 inch work boots that were my first purchase. These surpass even those. I ordered two pairs of these because after I made my first order Amazon was offering them for less. So, I'm returning one pair. The ones I'm returning however have a defect.. The left boot's sole is incorrectly placed. However, the other pair are absolutely perfect. And such defects will happen with any product, and thus they don't affect my five star review. These feel fantastic right out of the box, comfortably tight and as though they'll just be around forever. They smell great, they hold my foot firmly but comfortably, and they look fantastic. They're as comfortable as my Birkenstocks, and they are a boot. Compared to many boots, they seem pricey. But when you know Red Wings, and understand what you're purchasing, it is very worth it. These will carry you far longer than two or three pairs of other less expensive boots. Size down half a size. Drop the dime, and do it.

Clearly defective iron rangers
Shame on Redwing for allowing this product to ship to unsuspecting buyers. For the price of these boots I would never expect to receive such a poorly matched pair. As you can see from the pictures the right foot boot has a different length cap cover than the left. Also the right boot lace flap clearly starts further back than the left boot. The size 7 fit was good for me, and I would have kept them if not for the defective right boot. I am beginning to believe that shoe merchants and manufacturers use Amazon to liquidate their defective or mismatched footwear. I had a similar issue with a pair of Allen edmonds 5th avenues. There is no excuse for this. $450 Cdn dollars is a lot to pay for boots and I expect near perfect boots from Redwing. Obviously, they have been returned for full refund.

Amazing beautiful boots !!!
I bought the 8119. If you're in doubt about buying these because they're so expensive and you wounder about it's quality, don't be. They are exactly as described. Well built, perfect material. But be aware of 2 important issues that everyone discusses.1. Size - I went down a full size ! I am a 44 EU in all of my boots and sometimes I need to go up, not down. My sneakers are 45 EU. So I went for 11US/10UK/44EU. It was way too big ! And I compared them with my other boots and they were bigger than all of them !!!! I went down a half size but still it remained bigger so I ended up ordering 10US/9UK/43EU. Maybe the problem is with the conversion, cause usually 11US is a 45EU not 44EU. The shoe last is perfect. My toes don't touch the leather end, and they have room to move. They fit like a glove !2. The break in period: For what I read, this model is much softer thant most. This leather is thick, resistant and soft to the touch. You put them on and they feel great, but you know you have to take it easy. Forget the idea to put them on and go for a long walk. I started wearing them around the house and go out for just short minute walks. After some time I would have to take them off. I'm at the end of the first week now and I can wear them on for a full morning or afternoon without complaints. No blisters whatsoever. A few more days and it will be over. Conclusion : There must be a break in period ! After that you're free to enjoy this excellent product !!!

Good looking, tough but comfortable. Very high quality leather.
These boots are and look tough, but surely don' t lack style. The leather is very good, like all Red Wing shoes and boots (I owned 4 pairs). The toes are not steel-made, yet harder than the rest of the boot, and of most shoes... I don' t know if it' s about thicker leather or some plastic insert, but pushing the front part with a finger is very hard, even if in the end it bends. These boots are still very comfortable, I can wear them for long hours even in warm buildings, and can ride a bicycle with them on without feeling any obstacle at moving my feet. At the end of the day, they are more than worth their price... as the saying goes, who spends little, spends twice.Made in the USA

Great boots
The boots speak for themselves: others have described them more eloquently than I could. I will comment on the fit which is slightly large (I dropped a half size and they were perfect) and the break-in period (thick socks and no more more than 2 miles a day in the first week or so worked perfectly). The service (Barnsley's finest) was excellent too, and the goods arrived 2 working days after the order was placed.

Great boots with great service.
I ordered these on Sunday and I have them today (Tuesday) which is Christmas Eve. This is great service and delivery. I took advice and ordered a half size smaller than my regular shoe and they fit beautifully. Been walking around the house to start the break in. These are a great pair of boots. Thank you :-)
