Tastes just like original, but this is healthier
Just get this version since it’s lower sugar and slightly healthier for you than the original version. The quality is good and the price is great. If you want to make a quick sweet treat then this is a good mix to try. Tastes great!

These really don't taste all that great.
I fully appreciate the fact that they are lower sugar, because there aren't a lot of options for people wanting to reduce it from their diet. But they don't taste wonderful. It's really just a mediocre substitute ultimately. I would say as far as quality goes for the mix itself it's great, it's easy to use, it's kind of hard to stir, but they just don't taste good.

Great Taste at a Great Price
These lower sugar brownies taste great! You'd never guess they have less sugar because they're still rich and chocolatey. They're also reasonably priced, making them a great option when you're craving brownies without all the extra sugar.

Wanted to love it, but…
I didn’t even get as far as baking the mix. It is supposed to be lower-sugar, and since it doesn’t list any artificial sweeteners, I expected (and wanted) a less-sweetened brownie. Unfortunately (for me), it is loaded with sweet chocolate chips, which rather defeats the purpose. I like adding my own chopped unsweetened or 95% cacao chocolate to my brownies to balance the sweetness, so I was disappointed I couldn’t do that with this mix. I will say the taste of the batter, apart from the chocolate chips, seemed somewhat less intensely sweet than normal box-brownie batter, and I liked that. I think Betty Crocker is trying to please too many markets with this product, and will succeed with none. One day, I hope some marketing genius will come up with a term for “less sweet” that doesn’t sound so clunky. The “lower sugar” branding makes it seem like a diet thing rather than a flavor preference thing.
