I have been using the Littmann Cardiology III for the past 7 years. I love that stethoscope as it has been very trust worthy and never fails even in a busy county ER to give me great audible heart sounds. I figured now it is time to retire that stethoscope so I bought this one. The Cardiology IV not only feels slimmer, but lighter than the Cardiology III and is even more clear that the prior version. The build quality continues to feel great. Definitely not your Fisher Price stethoscope or those horrible contact stethoscope you find throughout hospitals. They sit comfortably in my ears as you can adjust the top off by either opening or squeezing the ear pieces together to get a better fit. My previous one was the traditional black with metal bell. This time I got the Navy Blue with Matte Black finish and simply looks great. I've had people ask if this is a custom color, however, it is one offered by Littmann. If it has been a few years since you last bought a steth and feel the need for an upgrade, highly recommend this product.

Would like to try the new electronic version when I can, but this one works very well. Had a Cardiologist II and III before this, and the IV is better. I used to work in the field in the pre-hospital environment and sounds are difficult for me in the back of a noisy ambulance, but I could use this to check for correct tube placement, or tension pneumothorax easily. Now I work in a hospital ED and this Stethoscope is great for lung sounds and even heart tones with my old ears.
