a non-annoying toy instrument for kids
I am adverse to noisy toys in my home - maybe I'm just overly sensitive. But when I saw how much fun my kids were having with xyolophones at a friends house, I knew I had to get one for them. I chose this one because I like the style of toys that Schylling makes. When we got the xylophone and my kids went at it, I was pleasantly surprised that the sound it produces is quite pleasant. It's not loud for one thing which is a huge bonus. And the notes are pleasant and not jangly. I haven't tried playing any music on it myself so I can't speak to the musicality of the notes or anything, but it is well made, attractive, pleasant-sounding and my kids have had fun with it. The one tiny negative feedback I would give is that I would have preferred a symmetrical shaped toy which is easier for putting away. But really that's just a personal thing. Wonderful toy!

great for the price
I actually got this for my own personal use...I use it as a signal in my classroom when the kids voices are getting too loud. But in the 3 days it floated around my house before I took it to school, my 15 month old had a blast with it:) I will say that the stick-thing (it's name escapes me) that you use to play it is wooden and kinda thin, so I wouldn't buy this for a 2 or 3 year old. But with 4 and up it should make for quite an enjoyable toy:)

Wonderful!
Great sound!! Has to be held flat though or it doesn't run out like it's supposed to. Seems pretty in tune, too! We'll probably buy the drum for Christmas we like the xylophone so much.

Sturdy and well made but not perfectly tuned
Its a nice xylophone. But one of the key is flat, which is disappointing. I really wanted to get my son one that was correctly tuned.

My baby really likes it
My 11-month-old has been playing with this for a couple of months now. She can't really use the sticks without wanting to stick them in her mouth so until she's a bit older, we use a different toy to make the sounds. I like playing simple tunes like Ode to Joy on it for her and she really enjoys it.

My Great-Niece Loves it
I think my niece may not be thrilled about the noise, but my great-niece loves it, and that's why I bought it :-) The sticks could be a little sturdier, but other than that, it's good quality, and I'd recommend it.

Red not blue
The major thing is it is red not blue as pictured. I ordered this particular one because it was navy blue. However, it is a xylophone and it works. I bought it for my two year old’s birthday and she can play it. It is a bit tight as others have mentioned but not a huge deal for a two year old.
