I let my brother work on it this last time (b/c I rent the house to him), and he stripped out the left-hand threaded thermocouple adapter. The company that makes these adapters also stopped producing them. I needed to replace the whole gas-valve now. I found this one which conforms to the specs of the original, other than it has normal right-hand threads for the thermocouple. I installed it and it has been working fine ever since (2 months now). I'm not going to go into how to install this b/c if you don't know how to research this info yourself, then you should not be trying to do this job. It is not technically difficult, but it is dangerous for a lot of reasons not the least of which is that there's natural gas lines involved and they have to be handled correctly to avoid leaks/problems,.. problems like blowing your house up.
