Review: Where has this been all my life? - I splurged on a crosswave after surgery because I couldn’t lift my mop bucket - only to realize I have deprived myself for far too long. This machine is my best friend. We live in a subtropic environment. We have so much sand, and tropical downpours in the afternoons. Add kids and pets to the mix and my tile floors are always a disaster. I can’t afford to not clean them but bending to use the dustpan and lifting my spin mop bucket were no-go’s following surgery. We got the cross wave and tried it out the same day and I thought “this isn’t half bad.” A couple of days later, knocked over a 16 oz glass filled with a freshly made iced latte. Shattered glass, ice, and coffee covered my kitchen. I picked up the big pieces of glass and set to work with the crosswave. I started by just vacuuming it. I did have to empty the dirty liquid compartment when done which revealed chunked of glass (easy to knock out from the float device that caught them). Once that was done I ran a clean and then mopped the floor with it. Just to be sure I went back over the kitchen with my broom and did find one small Piece of glad that the cross save didn’t pick up (It may have been under the fridge or In a corner). At that point - seeing how easily I cleaned up a huge mess despite my limitations - I was sold. I have had my cross wave for 3 weeks and use it every other day or so (sometimes more) and am astonished at how much dirt it picks up. Today when I cut ap a watermelon and a have landed on the floor with a big splat, I picked up the piece and quickly cleaned up the mess with the crosswave. We are a low-tox house so instead of using the bissell cleaning solution, I pre-dissolve 2 “clean” dishwasher pods into 2 liters of water and use that in the clean water compartment (this may void the warranty, so I wouldn’t suggest others do this without reading the warranty) Things I love: Easy, convenient, cleans well, easy to use my preferred cleaning solution in, even my child can use it. I also love the self clean feature Things I would change: Both clean and dirty reservoirs are small. It would be nice to see them larger but that would change the weight. It uses a lot of power - if the battery doesn’t hold up well, it won’t be much use in a few years.
Review: Happy with this purchase - I was trying to decide between this vacuum and a tineco; eventually settled on this due to reviews and the water tank capacity. The regular vacuum feature on this is fantastic, it picked so much up that our other vacuum doesn't! The first time I used the mop feature, it didn't seem like much was happening because the floor didn't look super wet. But as soon as I finished it was obvious how much cleaner my floors looked and it just smelled fresher in the house. I also noticed a few little sauce stains in the kitchen come up as I was going, so it definitely makes a difference. The water tank empties sooner than the battery, which I view as a positive. It takes about one water tank to do most of my hardwood floors and then I can finish up the rugs or areas I don't need to mop that round with the dry vacuum. From full charge, this whole routine will take about 60% of the battery. The water tank is also very easy to fill so if I wanted to do every single hardwood surface at once, it wouldn't be any trouble to refill. I noticed a lot of reviews complaining about the self clean feature not being enough to clean the whole machine. That feature is almost exclusively for the roll brush and anything that gets caught between pickup and the dirty tank, it's very effective for that; I run that feature and then can just set the brush into the stand to dry without having to do any additional cleaning. After that, I just rinse everything else out (brush cover, both water tanks, filters) and leave them out to dry. You don't have to scrub or do anything crazy, but you do need to pull those parts out to dry. I don't find this any more inconvenient than what you have to do after using a regular mop or similar device. A couple more things - this is advertised as being good for area rugs; I would disagree due to the nature of the roll brush and won't be using it on my rugs. Also, I would not say this is a substitute for fully mopping/cleaning your floors. It's wonderful for daily cleaning and keeping a fresh house, but it doesn't get all the way to the floorboards and obviously you can't do any scrubbing with the machine, so I will still be doing an "actual" floor cleaning every few weeks. Overall I would recommend this and find it very useful. We don't have pets or kids, so I can only imagine it would be even more helpful for those that do!

I decided to give into the Bissell hype when my Tineco died because I wasn’t prepared to spend nearly $600 on a new mop vac. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’ve had this thing for a few months now and I hate it more the more times I use it. 1) They want you to put SO MUCH cleaner in this thing it’s ridiculous. When I put the amount they want, the mop gets sudsy and leaves soap residue all over my floors. Not sure if they just want me to buy a ton of cleaner since I probably go through about 3 tanks to get my 1500 sq ft done or what. BTW, 3 tanks includes the cleaning cycle I complete every time I fill the dirty water tank. 2) There may be a “dedicated vacuum setting” but the rollers seem to always be wet—ick! It says give them 24 hours to dry after mopping and before using the vacuum setting. I pulled it out today after not having used it for a week and the rollers were immediately wet when on the dry vacuum setting. This makes me wonder how much bacteria was growing on it and is now on my floor. 3) Don’t actually believe the photos where it’s picking up cereal and clumps of hair; it can barely handle a little bit of cat litter and 2 dogs worth of hair. I literally have to hold the vacuum still over large pieces so it can work its way through the vacuum without spitting it out. Most of the time the hair is rolled up and spit out and I have to go over it a dozen times just to get it up. Now, this is when it’s on the mop setting. But like I said above, even when I wanted to use the dry vacuum setting I couldn’t because the rollers seem to never dry. 4) This mop will get all the small particles for the most part so my floor looks tidier but it’s definitely not clean. This just pushes dirty water around which, given the design, shouldn’t be a possibility. But it is and it does. My floors are just streaked with dirty water. 5) The “self cleaning” is not actually self cleaning when I have to rinse the roller and cover before “self cleaning” because it can’t suction up the hair that’s caught up in there. Also, when the self cleaning cycle gets to about 70% and it really starts going fast (I assume to attempt to dry the rollers) it starts shooting little streams of water out from either side of the dirty water tank. Do yourself a favor and avoid this thing. I checked about a month ago and had a heart palpitation thinking I paid $380 but apparently I got it on sale for $230. I was okay with that then and now I feel like even that is too much. At least I saved an animal.
