Is this accurate? I hope so, but the values I get indicate I would be okay behind the wheel even though I don't feel like it would be a good idea. I bought a cheaper unit - no real name or backing by anyone because it was cheap at about $37. It gave me some real high values after a beer or so. It just didn't correlate with how I was feeling after a little bit of drinking. So I decided to buy the Scout from Bactrack because at least it had a way to recalibrate the unit after the sale and it cost a little more. So, how do you test these things? Of course, drink at home and measure your levels a few times. So after a few stout beers, I used the tester and did get a 0.058%, which in most states is passible (but probably not recommended). That seems reasonable, but I certainly wouldn't drive under this level of influence. I guess all these units aren't going to be as robust as the ones used for legal measurements, so I guess its better than nothing. Just remember that some deviation from an official unit is to be expected and make decisions accordingly. It's better than guessing.

I bought this device after my buddy got an OWI. Since then, I have not driven a vehicle unless my device tells me I'm below .08. I'm very happy with it's ease of use, and the seeming accuracy. I have 2 other buddies that have also bought these devices, and they are both happy with their operation and results as well. I highly recommend, for price, ease of use, and seemingly BAC accuracy.

Works great and as expected.

The device measures 0.000 no matter how much I've had to drink, unless I measure right after taking a sip. Then it measures .25 or something. It's just totally broken and useless.

Looks nice, good size. HOWEVER. Myself and 3 other individuals tested this device 5-10 times each. We could get a reading only about 50% of the time. When we did get a reading, it is very inconsistent. UPDATE - Company offered full refund which I took. While my experience with product was so-so, that unsolicited effort speaks volumes.

I tested this against one of the cheap $39 or less units and that unit was accurate and worked about 20 times and now is so inaccurate it can't be used. This unit is very accurate as I tested it looking to try a drink with an expected result of .05 which is exactly what I got 20 minutes after I stop drinking and the other unit was still registering .17. The only thing that scares me about this unit is the recal so I haven't decided if I'm going to buy another unit or do the recal but I find this very accurate and with a permanent .02 blood alcohol level for driving will save me a lot of money in the future as well. I dinged value-for-money one star with everything else being five star. Picture was taken a little while after my result so that's why registers .044 but still about where I expected it to be. The ding for the value of money is because of the recall cost. I have a 81 of a 200 test done just testing this unit in last two weeks. Although I'm sure everyone will try this your best not to pass it around aimlessly at a bar because it's not going to give you information that's good anyway and if you get .15 don't test 10 minutes later to see if you can drive. Please understand you will only drop .025 per hour assuming don't drink anymore

I bought this product for my adult children to use for when they go out drinking! And it has worked incredibly well!! It fits in their coat pocket and when they are leaving the bar. They all check their BAC levels to make sure one of them is 0.00. It came with 6 plastic straws. This is a must!!

This breathalyzer is very accurate, warms up quickly, and is very easy to use in a foolproof way. It anayzes fast too so you get results in seconds. I compare it to my Alcomate Premium and whille the results are very close, the Alcomate takes much longer to warm uo and even a little longer to analyze. I will use the Alcomate just periodically to verify the results of the BACtrac and can even pop in a new sensor on the Alcomate should I have concerns about that calibration. Thus for me the BACtrac is for everyday use and the Alcomate is an admittedly expensive backup system to insure I always have a caliibrated result. An Alcomate with a backup sensor iis maybe the more economical way (but still not cheap) to get reliable results but some people say the sensors don't last long and the warmup time of 1 1/4 mnutes is a little tedius.

It’s well priced and easy to use. Makes you take a deep breath so you can’t cheat it which is good.

This is exactly the model my company uses for spot-checks. Perfect for being confident you are able to drive the morning after a late night couple of beers.
