Solid product
Good temp control, fast heating

Solid and fast-heating--great as an extra burner.
Heats water to boiling very quickly--and operates at a fairly quiet level. Controls are straightforward and responsive. I like the "boil water" button which automatically sets the burner to high for a specific length of time (usually more than I need) but it's easy to turn off. This cooktop was actually a bit cheaper than the previous one I had but seems to work even better. It's easy to clean and instructions are clear.

Really nice Induction Cooktop
I'm pretty satisfied with this honestly. Temperature Control: This seems to work fairly well, it heats up so fast that I was surprised, I have never had an Induction Burner before. Durability: So far so good but I just got it, so it's a bit too soon to say for certain. Noise Level: It's fairly quiet, I do not personally think it's very loud at all. Safety: I can't say regarding this yet, but it does claim it will shut off if it gets too hot inside.

Good, not great, but we will keep it
This OMEO cooktop looks and feels well built and at 1800-Watts it performs fine. When using the "Temperature" option it holds the set temper perfectly within 1-degree-F. This is our first foray with induction heating and we love the concept. But, I now know there are critical questions to be asked before a purchase. Most importantly for us, what are the "steps" for temperature settings? This cooktop has has very large steps for each temperature setting. There only 10-steps and I thought that would be OK as we wanted this for slow cooking. But the "steps" are huge as it goes from 160-F to 240-F in a single step so a Simmer is really not possible. The next issue is whether it saves the last settings for next time. Since we will be only using it for slow cooking, having to set the temperature each time is a bit of a pain. Finally, it needs a "Start/Stop" button. This one starts as soon as you press the "Menu" button and you cannot preset the temperature or Watts before pressing "Menu." It always starts up at 1200-Watts and you have to race to get it back to where you want it. I think a "Start" button is mandatory and "Pause" button would be good. If you want to lift the pan and shake stuff it very quickly goes to an error code, "no pan" and if you take too long to get it back on the top, it shuts off. I like the way the it heats up water really fast so instead of returning it, I will move it to the garage for making tea etc. I have ordered a Nuwave cooktop with 51-steps in 10-F increments in temperature. And, it appears to have a Program mode allowing me to define and save multiple steps like 5-minutes at maximum to boil, then 40-minutes at 210 to Simmer. It is only 1500-Watts compared to OMEO 1800 Watts and it costs more, but for the extra bucks, it will provide the functions we need. Other than the above personal preference issues, the OMEO is a good cooktop.

Look for a bigger heating coil
On receiving and using by OMEO cooker I was immediately delighted with the fast heating and rapid response to temperature changes. Soon I was cooking everything on it. The gas range became nothing more than a place to store pots and pans. But within a few weeks of use I came to realize that many of the items I was cooking on the OMEO were coming out unevenly cooked. Fried eggs were impossible to cook evenly. Pancakes were the worst. The center cooked quickly while the outer perimeter was still just heating up. The pancakes were unusable. It was impossible to flip them in time because the edges had not stiffened yet. The burn marks in the pan show the reason: only the center 4-4 ½ inches of the pan are being heated. Another example is a filet of fish. A 7 or 8 inch filet will over-cook in the center before the outer ends are done. You can’t shift it around if it is already as long as the flat part of the pan. I did some research and discovered that this is a common problem in all the low-end inductive cookers. They use an inductive heating coil that is no more than 4 or 4 ½ inches diameter. This is not revealed in the specs. So far I have only found one brand on Amazon that reveals the size of the heating coil, and that is Nuwave. Their models use coils of 6.5” or 8”. I am sold on induction cooking, but not on my OMEO. It’s fine for quick-heating of liquids, soups and stews or other items that can be stirred. Too late to return it, but I will make sure my next one will have a bigger coil.

stops and starts heating fast, easy to clean
I like this cooktop because it starts and stops heating fast. The surface is easy to clean when food was overflown on. It turns out half of my pots/pans are not induction-compatible, this cooktop knows and won't turn on. The lock feature is to keep the children safe. Certainly helped a lot during holiday season cooking. Only thing I wish could improve is that the temperature adjusting is in 40 degree increment, at 160 F, the soup barely simmers, while at 200 F, it tends to overflow. It would be great if it could increment at 20 degrees.
