Still learning how to use, but enjoying it!
Originally purchased as part of a gift during Ramadan for one of my husbands coworkers who observes. I ended up having some excess and, being a caterer, I couldnโt resist playing with the leftovers. Vaguely almond-ish but pink pepper-ish as well, it seems to be very versatile and works very nicely in rubs as well as jams. So far Iโve tried a few different recipes and have liked them all, and havenโt had any issues with flavor loss just storing the container in the pantry. Definitely going to keep experimenting with this spice and others!

Stale - No Mahaleb Smell or Taste
I don't know what is going on with mahaleb (also spelled mahleb) right now (April 2025) but no one seems to currently have fresh mahaleb. Two of my usual sources did not have it. One other I purchased was stale, and now this one is also stale. There are no dates provided on these products so one never knows how fresh they are when received. I tried to use this one hoping that maybe when baked into the bread some of the flavor would still be there. I actually doubled the amount I would normally use and yet there is almost no mahaleb flavor in the bread I made. Very disappointed in the current product being sent to customers.

Hard to find at local shops.

Just Okay
Very easy to measure out and use. However, I found that the flavoring was very flat, not enough umph as there is in other similar products as this.

Real mahlab
Very high quality, real mahlab. Just a pinch of it made a world of difference in the pastry. You could smell it. Thank you. Definitely recommend.
