Nice quality and cuts well. Recommend this kit especially for beginners.

I have not used these knives much so I can't speak for their longevity but they are very good for my amateur hands.

The product description had me think I might get some deluxe knives for an unbelievable bargain. I feel like I got a believable bargain. They aren't the best knives I have, but they're well worth the price. Pretty sharp out of the box, much better after 30 seconds on a strop. The blades are thin, but seem pretty decent, and I didn't have any really nice knives in these sizes. The handles could use a little sanding, but that's cosmetic. They're comfortable enough, and I like that they aren't varnished. I'll probably use a little linseed oil after I sand them, just because. Good starter set, or a very good upgrade from a crappy starter set.

Great knife set this is my third purchase of hutsul products 1st was strop block excellent craftsmanship, second was slode knife with leather sheath excellent quality and a very functional knife with extreme comfort for long whittling sesh, and now this set I had high expectations going into it , and I was not disappointed it actually exceeded it by far very comfortable and easily becoming my fav . I literally have well over 200 whittling and carving knives and gauges most of all whittling knives are a basic shape suited for the said job but always small in the hand witch causes blistering or slips out of position especially for a guy with big hands like mine these are a blessing in disguise ordering another set, just because I want to 9stars ,can't wait for what's in-store , carving for 50 years I'm sure this set will get me too 100, p.s. I seen some reviews on this set with bent tip or chip blade I can tell you it's a bs. Rookie mistake by the purchasers these knives are solid, hardenss is up there but not over or brittle and yes they will cut !! Ready to go out of box and they didn't skimp on the packages either like well known company's out here do currently, nothing but the truth.... B, King

This kit may be the nicest thing I've ever bought on Amazon. The package is a beautiful little box that somehow manages to hold the entire kit, safety gloves and all. I know very little about whittling - I bought this more to exercise my tired hands after eight hours a day on computers - but this seems like a set that even an experienced whittler would enjoy. The gloves meet the The European Standard for Protective Gloves, EN 388, at the highest level, a 5. That's great for older guys like me who lack the hand dexterity of twenty years ago! Each blade is carefully shaped and sharpened, and fastened to simple but gorgeous wood handles. My only complaint - and this is MY problem, not Hutsuls' - is that the hook blade appears to be geared toward right-handedness, and I'm left handed, so it looks like I may not be able to use it properly. (I might try reaching out to the company to request a left-handed version.) All in all, just absolutely beautiful. It was a joy to unwrap and I've used it the last three evenings to whittle simple ball shapes, and as I said, loosen the cramping from typing on computers all day. p.s. Don't leave the green polishing compound out in bright sun. I melted mine severely (sigh). It's perfectly functional, but not the nice rectangle it once was ;-) Thank you Hutsul!

Just learning how to carve wood spirits and the like. Very sharp and this kit has enough stuff to get a good start at what I am doing.

Only got a minute carving before the tip snapped off, avoid buying this product as I’ve used Flexcut for over a year and never lost the tip off my knives. I wanted a set of back up knives and was testing the knives, that’s when on a easy cut on Bass Wood the blade tip snapped. Stick with quality, not this set! Flexcut is 100% better, avoid this set, did not pass a minute before snapping tip.

Perfect set for a beginner. All edges were sharp and comfortable handles. Need honing often but I am working with cottonwood bark and this is apparently common. I am well pleased. When I am ready to replace with higher quality, I will set this set aside for my grandson.

As a beginner carver I was always amazed how experienced carver were able to cut through the wood. The sharpness of these knives allows me to cut through the wood with ease. I highly recommend beginners to try these knives. They will be impressed.
