The Malahit DSP2 is a neat little Russian designed and Chinese manufactured SDR receiver. It is very well made and completely self-contained with a 3.5" SDR touchscreen, a speaker, and a built-in battery. Unlike many cheap SDR receivers, the DSP2 has a metal case and good RF shielding. The book includes sections about the scanning function and connection to an external SDR or digital modes programs that are not covered in the supplied manual. There are also sections about receiving L-Band satellites, DMR, NOAA weather images, ACARS aircraft data, and POCSAG paging signals. Several things caught my attention. Firstly, the radio has a full colour SDR touchscreen bandscope display. Secondly, unlike the Icom, it is very portable making it ideal for plane spotters, and for use while walking or on holiday. It comes with a simple extendable whip antenna which is surprisingly effective even on the HF bands. The third highlight was the wide receiver coverage from 10 kHz to 380 MHz and 403.3 MHz to 2 GHz. Unlike ‘dongle,’ and ‘black box’ SDR receivers the DSP2 is completely self-contained. It has a built-in speaker and battery, and no computer connection is required. There are heaps of other interesting features. Is this radio a serious contender, or does it fail to meet the grade? Review: Required reading for a new owner. Excellent book. Required reading for a new owner. Excellent book. Thanks.
The DSP2 reciever is complex and although the manual supplied with it is clear and easy to use it does not explain the intricate settings and options available to the user ( and the consequences of changing them). This book is excellent, it covers every possible setting as well as the jargon used. The author had clearly used the receiver in depth before starting to write, and had a thorough knowledge of how to explain to users the correct way to operate. Quite humorous in places, with tips in various listening conditions. Also explains the shortcomings in the receiver, which although few are relevant to a new owner/ operator. Very highly recommended, almost required reading for this top level, expensive and complex receiver.

It's a complete guide to how to get the best out of your radio.
A very good book with lots of useful information on how to use the radio which to me is complicated so I have lots of reading to do to master it.

Ok book, not needed except for SDR novices
The book has some flaws. At least 10% is repetition. The author admits to some of it in one part of the book. Grammatical errors abound, several being in just the first six pages. Some sentences are incomplete with their meaning more obscure than most functions of the radio. Which brings me to whether the book is indispensable. No, not by a long way, but it is helpful and some aspects of the DSP2 are covered in the book that are not in the user manual. To me the page size has been inflated to try and make the book appear more worthwhile for its overly high price. I would recommend it if you have just bought the DSP2 and are new to SDR radios, or like to read and have some spare money. Otherwise get your instructions from the many excellent online videos and work with and experiment with the radio yourself.

Essential reading.
If you’ve bought a Malahit DSP2 SDR radio and like me need a lot of help in trying to learn how to use its array of features and understand its capabilities you definitely need this book. Whilst the instruction manual supplied is decent enough it is nowhere near as comprehensive and detailed as this book in explaining how to operate the vast amount of options available to the user in setting up the receiver and in customising various aspects of its Audio and Visual performance and appearance. It is definitely a steep learning curve for me but this book is invaluable as a guide and I can thoroughly recommend it. The only criticism I have is that the photos in the book are all in black and white, coloured ones would have been more informative and clearer.

SUPERB INSTRUCTION BOOK
VERY HELPFUL. A USEFUL AND DETAILED EXPOSITION WHICH HELPS ENORMOUSLY ANYONE LIKE MYSELF WHO FINDS THE NEW DIGITAL TOUCH MENU DRIVEN SYSTEMS SOMEWHAT BAFFLING. AM USING THE LATEST MALAHIT DSP 2, WHICH IS AMAZING.

Essential if you own a Malahit radio
The documentation that comes with the radio is very basic, so I found this excellent book to be essential reading. It explains things that the official documentation just glosses over. Highly recommended.

If you buy the radio, you need this book!!
Not here to sell the radio, but it's brilliant for the money (purchased for £220 from Ali) but this book covers just about everything you'll need to know in the first few months of ownership. I'm depth book from a trusted author. Only a chapter on HF SWL antennas could be useful, but the info is out there. Get the radio, buy and read the book while you wait for delivery!

Guida all'uso del ricevitore Malahit DSP2
Ottimo libro. Contiene molte più istruzioni rispetto al manualetto fornito con il Malahit DSP2, il ricevitore SDR basato sul software. Grazie a questo libro l'utilizzo del ricevitore diventa molto semplice, soprattutto per chi ha già una certa pratica nell'uso del PC. Infatti si tratta di imparare ad usare un software molto semplice, ovviamente incorporato nel ricevitore.

Great Manual for the Malahit DSP2
If you have the Malahit DSP2 this manual will add to a better understanding of the menus and operation to get more from this top notch radio. The manual also goes into more advanced topics such as connecting to a computer.
