I am 83 years old and this has helped me feel totally safe in my shower, Water drains through it easily and feel great on my feet. Try it. You'll like it.

I have very sensitive feet, and cannot stand on a hard surface even long enough to shower (When traveling, I have to wear flip-flops). I tried other products that didn't do the job: one mat had a suction cup at each corner, but it didn't have enough cushioning, and the other mat had a jillion suction cups but when standing on it they hurt my feet more than the bare shower surface. But this product is perfect: it doesn't have any suction cups but still maintains a solid grip; it has sufficient cushioning to allow me to take a shower without foot pain; and it is much more attractive than the others. It seems durable, but when it does wear out I will try to buy a replacement exactly like it.

So I chose this one versus a lot of the other rubber mats based on materials. It seems like the lesser of the evils. I bought it for my 14 year old dog who really struggled in the tub. However anytime you use a mat stuff is going to collect underneath it. Or in it, in this case because it's not a smooth surface. I think overall I would recommend it but you have to figure out if it's right for your needs. Very soft! Dried out easily.

Great thickness, poor quality!

I was expecting a lufa sponge type mat. It sort of is. When I stepped on it with a wet foot it felt gross, sticky, thin and mushy. Perhaps it's a tactical thing. This felt like a big no. It seems well made, nothing wrong with it.
