What’s the thickness of just the bottom bracket? The part that the speaker will be resting upon, which faces outward.

Bottom bracket measures 0.8 inch in height, 1.6 inch in width, and 8.5 inches deep (including wall plate).

What is the distance between the centers of the two holes used for mounting the brackets?

Distance between two holes is 1 3/4 inch.

From pictures it seems that the sound bar is on the mount and not secured. Is there a screw or connection that secures the sound bar from falling?

The package comes with Screws and plastic anchor that holds the wall mount in place. My center channel speaker came with rubber pad which I place on top of the wall mount before placing the speakers. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGTJHZ8/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B06XGTJHZ8&pd_rd_w=mVuAv&pf_rd_p=f0dedbe2-13c8-4136-a746-4398ed93cf0f&pd_rd_wg=OMUYe&pf_rd_r=PM6YFX67KGG7DGN0DAV6&pd_rd_r=7a02c14f-12a7-11e9-a60b-cfebfa3ec185 Cutting these along the width of each wall mount and then placing your sound bar might help.

Are the bars at a right angle or do they angle up slightly? I want to mount a center channel that is 15 inches deep.

They are 8 and 3/8 long. So...15 inches on your center speaker will likely NOT work with these. I have a Klipsch Center Speaker on these and they are basically 8 inches long.
