A lot of inconsistency in grain patterns. Best to order as a lot. Zero Customer service or support.
I really like the wood backing of this product, as even if you miss a spot with glue, you're not going to get a ripple. It's a very substantial piece of material that tends to lie a lot flatter than the paper backing stuff. Shipping is very slow, and I've had at least one box damaged, as they don't provide any extra packaging. It's just wood in a box, no cushion or any kind or doubled boxed, etc. The first batch I got what appeared to be "fast grown" versus a real quarter swan oak. The grain was so different, there's no way it would match or could be used together with a batch ordered at a later date. Having greater consistency would be nice. What you're looking for in a rift cut is a nice, tight vertical green, and again, the first batch had a very aggressive grain pattern not consistent with a quarter-sawn product. And once it had oil on it, the contrast between the joining pieces was really obvious as one was quite dark and the other one was much lighter. Without being able to actually select the material, this is the chance you take buying a veneer or any wood product, for that matter. It is a nice quality material, I just hope other people are able to get a good batch with a nice grain pattern. I've had about 65% bad versus 35% good. If you need four or five pieces for a project, I would suggest ordering as a lot as opposed to waiting between orders, as each shipment is probably going to be wildly different from the next. I've emailed customer service several times, and I've never gotten a response. Zero stars for customer service. Would be Nice to be able to communicate with the vendor to get a lot of veneer for a specific project, and they do not respond, ever.
