I finally took the plunge and got myself this Japanese Damascus Steel knife as I heard so much about it from my sister.Firstly I must say that the box the knife comes in is so lovely! I think the company really did a great job with the packaging. I first saw it at my sister's place and I must admit that this is one of the reasons that convinced me to buy this particular knife. When my order came, it was the same beautiful box that charmed me.As for the knife, the steel felt heavy and dense, but not in a cumbersome way. I actually felt that the heft and weight of it made it more comfortable to hold even for a lady like me and this was a signal that good steel went into the making of this knife. The edge of the knife was very sharp and I was sure to not let any kids play with it. With the added non-stick function provided by the dimples, cutting moist ingredients such as potatoes that tend to stick to flat surfaces was so much easier to breeze through..With my mother's birthday coming up, I will definitely be buying one for her as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Too heavy for paring. *by A***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2019* The overall knife and craftsmanship is good. The layers of Damascus steel are not equally spaced nor parallel. It makes me wonder how the blade was forged. The blade is both too thick and too large for paring, I personally prefer smaller and lighter blade which are more agile. This extra large blade adds more surface area of contact between the knife and what you are cutting. This extra surface area adds more friction and lessens the maneuverability of the knife.The sharpening is ok but can be made exceptional by leather stropping. So far it holds its edge.The knife quality is above average but I would not recommend it for paring.
