## Description

LEGO Speed Champions Ford Mustang Dark Horse Sports Car Toy Vehicle for 9 Plus Year Old Boys & Girls, Buildable Model Set with Driver Minifigure, Kids' Bedroom Decoration, Birthday Gift Idea 76920 : desertcart.co.uk: Outlet

Review: Incredible taillight geometry and a mean stance, but a bit boxy from the side - The Bottom Line For anyone who appreciates modern American muscle or just loves clever, complex LEGO geometry, the Dark Horse Mustang is an absolute standout. It breaks away from standard "sticker-heavy" supercar builds by utilizing ingenious brick-built solutions for the headlights and taillights, resulting in an aggressive, shelf-ready display piece that captures the true essence of a V8 brute. The Real-World Test The set promises a faithful, 344-piece recreation of Ford’s track-focused Dark Horse model, and it is a masterclass in modern 8-wide Speed Champions engineering. The immediate highlight is the mercifully low sticker count—there are only about 11 decals here, which is a rare treat for this line. Instead of relying on clear stickers for the lights, the design team opted for pure, brick-built innovation. The front headlights are attached at a tight 45-degree angle using clear action-figure posing stands hidden inside the nose, creating an incredibly realistic look. Even better is the rear end: it uses two identical printed 1x6 taillight tiles tucked behind one another at a 90-degree angle. This trick of perspective makes the signature three-bar Mustang lights look like they seamlessly wrap around the physical corner of the car. The build itself is incredibly dense, heavy, and satisfying. The dark blue, black, and grey colourway feels incredibly premium and true to the actual car. However, translating the smooth, sweeping body lines of modern muscle into rigid plastic bricks is always a challenge. When viewing the car directly from the side profile, it loses some of its real-life aerodynamic curvature and can look slightly chunky and flat compared to the highly detailed front and rear sections. The Pros & Cons Genius Lighting Engineering: The overlapping rear taillight tiles and angled front headlight brackets are some of the cleverest techniques seen in the entire Speed Champions line. Minimal Sticker Frustration: Relies heavily on ingenious part usage and printed pieces rather than forcing you to apply dozens of tedious decals. Detailed, Spacers Interior: The cabin easily fits two minifigures side-by-side and features a great dual-screen dashboard detail alongside a dark blue microphone piece used as a gear stick. Chunky Side Profile: The sleek, tapering curves of the actual s650 chassis don't transfer perfectly to bricks, making the side panels look a little boxy. Fiddly Headlight Assembly: Because the front lights sit on clip joints and posing bars, they can be easily knocked out of alignment if you or a child grips the front end too tightly during play. The Verdict The Dark Horse is an exceptional, rewarding build that easily ranks among the best single-car sets LEGO has released recently. It hits the perfect sweet spot for automotive collectors, prioritizing physical brick geometry over lazy stickers. It may lack the flowing curves of a European supercar, but it more than makes up for it with its mean, planted stance and brilliant engineering details.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Lego fan

Bought for sons 21st as wanted to buy him his first car!! Looks great and a bit of childish fun!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great set out the box and some nice ways to customise it and make it your own
*by M***B on 11 August 2025*

I’m fussy about these lego speed champion cars and this is my second purchase. For me, this one is fantastic. I made a few mods of my own with some spare bricks (plenty of youtube vids out there on this set) to make it even better. I got it for about £14 which is a steal in my opinion. Get it before it’s discontinued and the price starts to go up!
