Rugged, Compact, and Incredibly Fast External SSD
I picked up the SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD as an upgrade from my older external hard drives, and itโs easily one of the best storage devices Iโve used. The speed difference alone makes it worth itโtransfers that used to take minutes on my traditional hard drives now finish in seconds. Large files, videos, photos, and backups move incredibly fast with no lag or stuttering. The size is another huge win. Itโs unbelievably compactโsmaller than most phones and light enough to clip onto a backpack or keep in a pocket without even noticing itโs there. Despite the small size, it feels durable and solid, with a rugged rubberized exterior that helps protect it from drops and everyday wear.Compared to traditional hard drives, thereโs no spinning disk, no noise, and no worrying about bumps causing damage. It stays cool during most normal use and has been extremely reliable so far. I use it for work files, media storage, and backups, and it has handled everything without a single issue.A few small caveats worth mentioning:โข It can get a little warm during long or heavy file transfers (not dangerously hot, just warm to the touch).โข To get the full advertised speed, you need a USB-C port that supports USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 2. On older ports, it will still work fine but will be slower.โข Like most SSDs, itโs pricier than traditional external hard drives, but the speed and portability make the difference worth it.โข The included cable is on the shorter side, so you might want a longer one depending on your setup.Overall, this SanDisk Extreme SSD is a huge step up from regular external drivesโfaster, smaller, tougher, and much more convenient. If you need a dependable portable drive with great performance, this one is absolutely worth it.

๐ฅ Blazing Fast, Ultra-Compact, and Totally Worth It!
I absolutely loved my purchase! Exceeded my expectations from the very first use. The storage capacity of 1TB is perfect for anyone who needs extra space for large files, backups, photos, and videos without constantly worrying about running out of room. The performance is outstanding. File transfers take just seconds and, even under heavy workloads, the noise level is non-existent โ completely silent, which I really appreciate.Another big plus is the compatibility. It worked flawlessly with my devices using USB-C, with no setup or additional software required. Just plug and play. The design truly stands out. Itโs very small, exactly as shown in the photo, making it extremely portable and easy to carry in a bag or backpack. The fit in my hand feels great and gives a strong sense of durability and premium quality.Considering the speed, portability, build quality, and brand reliability, this SSD offers excellent value for money. Itโs fast, compact, durable, and incredibly efficient.I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful external SSD that delivers performance and convenience in a small package. An excellent choice! ๐๐ฏ

Not For Use With An iPhone 11
This is a review of the SanDisk Portable Extreme 1TB SSD Hard DriveThis Solid State Drive (SSD) is really tiny, and very lightweight. Itโs pre-formatted to exFAT, which works with both MAC and Windows. Unfortunately, it DOES NOT WORK WITH the iPhone 11 Pro, which is what I bought it for.I read a bunch of great Amazon reviews, as well as YouTube reviews and videos. The one or two reviews I missed were the oneโs that said this SSD is not compatible with the iPhone 11 Pro.I tried using it in conjunction with annon-Apple lightning to USB 3 camera adapter. When that didnโt work, I purchased an Apple lightning USB 3 camera adapter. The adapter has a built-in lightning cable, to attach it to the iPhone or iPod, and on the back side thereโs a lightning port. This port can be used to connect the adapter to either a DC or portable external power supply. It also has a USB 3 port, that can be used to attach a camera, or other device.Once I connected everything to the iPhone and powered up the external power supply, I received the message, โCannot Use This Accessory Extreme 55AE: This accessory requires too much power,โ and the iPhone would not recognize the SSD. I checked to confirm that it arrived pre-formatted to exFAT, and it had.I ended up chatting with two Apple technicians, and an Apple supervisor. I pointed out that there are a number of videos that demonstrate the โhow toโฆโ use the SanDisk (and other) SSDโs to copy files to and from the iPhone 11 to the SSD. The bottom line was that the Apple Techsโ insist that there is no way to use an external storage device with an iPhone, even by using their Lighting to USB 3 camera adapter. Now, Iโm an old-timer, so thereโs certainly the possibility that Iโm just not sharp enough to figure out where I went wrong. But, what I am sharp enough to figure out is how easy it is to return this beautiful little SanDisk SSD to Amazon for a refund. Love dealing with Amazon, but thatโs another story.Even though I returned this SSD for a refund, Iโm giving it all five stars, because when I connected it to my Windows 10 laptop, it was instantly recognized. Since I purchased this SSD to work with my iPhone, not my laptop, and knowing that I would be returning it, I didnโt try to transfer any files to it.Would I recommend the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD to a friend? Only if my friend didnโt intend to use it to transfer files to or from their iPhone.

Do NOT use Sandisk encryption
The SSD sustained data transfer speeds between 350 and 400 MB/s with large files. Once I knew the disk worked and before putting it to use I thought I would give their data encryption a try. Basically it creates a tiny read-only volume with a copy of their encryption software. This could be handy when you need it to access the encrypted data on a different computer. Their software will expose the encrypted volume and mount it provided you enter the correct password. From there is works like any other volume. I used the auto-mount option which eliminates having to keep entering a password when you mount the encrypted volume. It all seemed to work well enough although I was never quite sure how secure the data actually was. I expect it was encrypting the filesโ content but left the directories and filenames exposed. Next I tried to disable the auto mount feature. Everything I tried failed and the volume continued to auto-mount. I reached out to SanDisk support who were friendly enough but their suggestions were just not working. The documentation they provided for how to reconfigure was not matching with what their software was doing. After spending over a month I got tired of playing โtry thisโ and just asked them how to restore the device back to its initial pre-encrypted condition. They discouraged this and made a point of explaining it would result in the loss of all the data. I was only testing their encryption and didnโt care about losing the test data. Again, their instructions were not matching the software. For example they mentioned that entering the incorrect password 5 times in a row will bring up additional dialog options. It did not. (You need to enter the password to reconfigure the encrypted SSD and apparently to disable encryption altogether.) Eventually I got tired of going around and around and gave the Windows disk tools a try. It is still basically a disk so I should be able to reset it at the device level. Oddly I couldnโt get any of the windows tools (like disk management tool or diskpart) to remove the read-only partition. I was able to get the rest of the disk to reset and ended up with a two volume drive (although the reset volume might still have been encrypted). I tried how to articles from the internet with no success. Finally I gave up wasting time and asked SanDisk replace my drive. SanDisk wouldnโt take the drive back but eventually agreed to exchange it for a previously used and refurbished one. The exchange took nearly 2 months. Keep this in mind if you need to use their warrantee. Two months was plenty of time to research other encryption options. I chose VeraCrypt because it was the most flexible, supports multiple platforms, has thorough encryption, and was free thanks to the open source community. The setup was easy and worked exactly as advertised. I liked it so much I decided to keep using it. Also the encrypted volume exists as a file on SSD which can be deleted (like any file) when you decide you no longer need it.

It works fine
Absolutely love it. Small and easy to use and plug in. I can run my games from it easily without worry. Worth the price. Also, it worked on my laptop which I mainly use for gaming, was a little worried an older model wouldnโt do the job but it does. Quite satisfied with the product.

Fast, reliable, and perfect for backing up photos and video
Iโve been using the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (1TB) to back up photos and video, and itโs been one of the most useful pieces of gear in my kit. Transfer speeds are genuinely fast, so moving large batches of RAW files or video clips takes minutes instead of forever. Drives in this line are rated around 1000โ1050 MB/s read and ~1000 MB/s write, which makes a noticeable difference when working on tight timelines. ๏ฟผThe size and build are a big plus. Itโs small enough to keep in a pocket or camera bag, and the rubberized shell feels rugged. These drives are designed with water and dust resistance and drop protection, which gives some peace of mind when traveling or shooting outdoors. ๏ฟผSetup is simple with USB-C, and the included cable and adapter make it easy to use with both newer laptops and older USB-A ports. Iโve used it for everything from field backups to editing directly off the drive, and itโs been consistently reliable. If thereโs one small downside, itโs that like most compact SSDs, it can get slightly warm during long transfers, but nothing concerning.Overall, itโs a great portable SSD, especially for photographers, videographers, or anyone who moves large files regularly. Fast, durable, and easy to carry, which is exactly what you want in a travel drive.

Excellent, worth buying, you will not regret it
I am very late in writing the review, as I have been using it for more than three years and it works smoothly and excellently.

Scan Disk SSD 1TB
Very cool delivery, on time, very happy with the SSD drive, it is a little more expensive than the usual one, but since my previous hard drive failed and I lost all my data irrevocably, it is better to get a reliable drive, although the price is higher for the sake of reliability and quality.
