The Girl in the Eagle's Talons: the pulse-pounding DRAGON TATTOO thriller (Millennium, 7) : Smirnoff, Karin, Death, Sarah: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Got To Love Lisbeth - A good storyline with some new characters, the ending seemed a bit rushed but aside from that as always all good. Review: Worth reading if you are a fan - Absolutely loved the first three books by Stieg Larson but not so much the next three by David Lagerkrantz. I was hopeful that this would be better with a new author particularly as it must be difficult to follow in Larson's footsteps and I was concerned about the negative comments on here before I purchased it. I am no literary expert but the story has a good plot and enjoyable for a simple reader as myself. I will makes sure I have a list of characters for the next book though (not so easy looking up with a Kindle)

A good read
A good read in the end, but seemed to me disjointed by the style of writing, which included quotes from somewhere apparently unconnected with the story, and flashbacks from the character's thoughts; so together with the somewhat disjointed writing style I almost gave up on the book. The plot was good enough, although it took a while to get going, and the ending seemed a bit rushed. I eventually became used to the rhythm of the writing and ended up quite enjoying the book. Sadly not a patch on the original trilogy.

Great story gripping and almost as good as Dragon Tatoo
Karin Smirnoff takes up the reins of the Lisbeth Salander saga well. Set in Northern Sweden its a well told thriller introducing a new adversary Marcus Branco

Not the best in the series
I have read all the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books and thoroughly enjoyed the first 3. The next ones were OK but this one was dreadful. The story was disjointed, the were to many people and places involved which were confusing and Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist didn’t have a big role in the storyline. It may well have been something to do with the translation but I found it a very hard read. I was looking forward to the next book”The Girl with Ice in her veins” but after this I might not bother. Very disappointed.

Below par story
Item itself arrived in good time and condition, no problem there at all. However, the content was very disappointing indeed. I doubt very much had this not been part of the "Dragon Tattoo" saga this book would not have been published and as such this was the only reason that I purchased it, big mistake. For me the story telling was all over the place with little or no connection with our two lead characters as we have seen previously. Slow to get going, if it actually does or not I will let you decide, no excitement or thrill until the final 2 or 3 chapters! And to make reference to the character 'Lisbeth' looking like Noomi Rapace just about finished it for me. Hope this author is not allowed any follow up editions. Sadly I have to give it 1 star or I can't submit this review.

The book with the missing protagonists...
Solid book, enjoyable read but for me missed the key ingredients that made the Millennium Books great, the characters of Lisbeth & Michael and their relationship. In this it feels like we are short changed on this front both from time with each character and also their interactions with each other. The pacing towards the end seemed out of kilter with the rest of the book also, we appear to have reached a satisfactory conclusion of different threads all within the space of a few pages that left me feeling a little short changed. Don't get me wrong, it's great to be jumping back in to this world & I'm looking at this entry in to the series as the introduction to a new storyline that will play out over the next couple of novels and some of the new characters and directions are interesting to set these up.

I have a lot to say, but this is my summary. The author is definitely gifted, using the pen like a paintbrush. Lisbeth is painted in a less positive light at times imo, less tenderhearted and more judgemental and at times objectifying, which is hard to digest. Beginning is slower and sometimes choppy but vivid, and the writing style is the most diverse of the series. Overall tone is very intimate and a bit more family-centered than its predecessors. I felt we spent more time with Lisbeth than in the prequels, which I liked. New characters are very interesting and/or complex. Certain new characters expose different sides of and/or complement our main characters interestingly. Seems to ignore some of Salander's history with kids. Despite the new take on Salander, she's still our heroine and the novel offers a lot of character insight. My favorite part was how I sometimes felt like I was crashing an assassin's slumber party; the best fun. Overall, a few hard pills to swallow but very beautiful, intense, and intricate. The story is both complex and compelling and quickens around the middle, reminding me of it's predecessors. Very satisfying, it ends with the series' typical loose strands, and I look forward to the next book.

Mal estructurada. Juega con los tiempos, pero de forma poco clara. A veces ni sabes quién está hablando o de quién son los pensamientos. Quizá tenga que ver con la traducción. Nada que ver con las novelas originales de Stieg Larsson.

The style is missing. The plot is jerky Nowhere in the class of the previous books in the series. Pretty disappointed
