I have had to slice each piece in half for recipes, as they would otherwise be too big a biteful for me (long, curled tentacles with large suction cups--image on the left is Matiz, compared to Conservas, on the right). The octopus itself has a very good flavor once it is drained (the oil it is packed in is supposed to be olive oil, and I hope it is, though the texture is thick and 'crude' enough to make me wonder--hence the 4 stars). I've had it with boiled and quartered potatoes (baby potatoes, if you can find them, or small red ones), sliced onions, a squeeze of lemon, some chopped parsley and a dash of paprika and himalayan salt. If you are adept at paella, you should add a can of this octopus.
