The pattern looks a little pixelated since my rug is so big. I bought the 9 x 12. It is very thin, so if you prefer a padded surface- you will want to get a rug pad to go under it. I am using it without a rug pad and the rubbery bottom keeps it from slipping. The Roomba goes over it nicely, but I find that the vacuum will start to suck it up a bit because the suction is too strong. I have cleaned it with the handheld attachment from my steam cleaner and that works well. I have not tried it in the wash yet.
