We first discovered Maldon at a restaurant years ago - they brought out a small bowl of salt alongside our meal for us to finish whatever we were eating, and it completely changed the dish. We asked the server what brand it was, and sure enough it was Maldon. We've been loyal fans ever since, and finally wised up to buying the 20oz tub instead of the little boxes - so glad we did. We go through a lot of finishing salt between cooking and baking, and this size lasts us without constantly reordering, plus the container actually seals properly so the flakes stay crisp and dry (no clumping, even in our kitchen). The lid is sturdy and it stacks nicely in the pantry. On the crystals themselves - this is what sets Maldon apart from pretty much everything else we've tried. They're less "flat flakes" and more like delicate hollow pyramids, with a really satisfying crunch that gives way to a clean, briny finish. Not harsh or bitter like some sea salts, no metallic aftertaste. You can pinch them between your fingers and crush them to whatever size you want, which makes them incredibly versatile. A few ways we actually use it: Chocolate chip cookies - this is our absolute favourite. A pinch on top right when they come out of the oven is non-negotiable in our house. The pyramids sit on top instead of dissolving in, so you get that little pop of salt with every bite. Finishing steaks - sprinkled on after resting, it adds crunch and brings out the beef flavour without over-salting. Baking - yes, it works great in baking. We use it on top of brownies, focaccia, caramels, and shortbread. If you're folding it into batter I'd crush it lightly, but as a finishing touch on baked goods it's unbeatable. I also use it as my salt for fresh bread, no idea if it helps- just a staple and my go to Everyday cooking - roasted veggies, avocado toast, eggs, salads, tomatoes with olive oil. Is it kosher? Yes - Maldon Sea Salt Flakes are certified kosher (OU), which was a nice bonus for us. We've tried a bunch of other flake salts trying to find something cheaper or comparable and honestly nothing has stuck. Other brands are nice but different, generic "sea salt flakes" tend to be smaller and less crunchy. Maldon is the one we keep coming back to. The tub is the best value if you use it regularly like we do. Highly recommend.

The classic cooking finishing salt. Love the design of this plastic tub. A great value for the money! Superb texture and quality. Helps bring flavors out in recipes. Can be used on anything from fresh veggies to pasta dishes. I give this as gifts each season because it looks festive in a kitchen. High end salt!

The best tasting salt. Nice to have a heap of it si I never have to run out. I use some as crystals and have some in the grinder.

Love this salt. I use it all the time. Its quite soft so you can crumble it with your fingers.
