Surprised how warm it was!
I used this the other night when it went down to 40 deg, and I couldn't believe how warm it kept me for how light it is. I was sweating within a half-hour and had to take my jacket off. It really works the way it's advertised. The wind was chilly and strong too, but inside this I was cozy. My only complaint is the tape on the seams started to come off. But that's minor compared to the overall effectiveness. For emergencies or even hikes this bivy is perfect.

Exactly what I was looking for
I received my first BearHard Bivy today and I am really happy that I chose this brand. It is extremely compact and light weight. This was meant to be an addition to my GHB, but now I'm going to have to order more for our vehicles and my wife's GHB. Oh, and the price makes it a no-brainer.

Not the best and not what I expected!
Pros -It’s Mylar -It’s a sleeping bag which will cover both sides of your body -It comes in a pouch making it easier to store and pack. While remaining protected -I like that it’s camo (read cons) -Shipped in a box that protects actual product and the box that the product comes in -whistle works (didn’t buy it for that but it’s still a plus) Cons -The Mylar is lower medium quality not the thinnest but could be thicker and stronger. -The sleeping bag design is literally a rectangle with 1 open end for your head. But because it is seamed all the way to the end you will either have your head inside the bag. (Might be hard to breath) or your head and part of your upper body outside of the bag. Unless you cut out a section for your head or cut a little down the sides to allow folding for your face. - the camo paint on the bag was coming off before I removed it from the bag. Don’t buy it for color or pattern it’s going to be silver regardless:( - box inside of delivery box was crap partially opened and not gift quality. It doesn’t even say what item you bought. But has all the items the company makes, the receiver might think it’s a blanket or a tent or all the items, Get rid of the box and just use the pouch. Looks better and less confusing - the instructions are like the box. Nothing about the item you bought. No instructions. Just a “instruction sheet” with every item the company sells and a thank you for your purchase. Again not a single thing states what item you actually bought. Person receiving this gift might be under the impression that a blanket, tent, and sleeping bag is in that pouch. Or it’s a 3-in1. Maybe a blanket or a tent instead of a sleeping bag. Might as well toss that and label it yourself. Basically It’s not specific to the item and there is no instructions. It is a advertisement for all the products they make. Nothing more or less and no help to or for the product you bought. Over all opinions of this product Depending on the price and what you want to use it for will determine whether you should buy it. If it’s over $10 then it’s a pass for anyone!!!! If it’s $6 then it’s a toss up. What are your needs and giving the details does it fit. I’m don’t know if I can recommend this product or if I would rebuy it. It’s definitely not worth $20 or even $10 or the $7 I paid. That’s is honest but it is worth $4-$5 would be higher if they tossed the crap box and put effort into a description or instructions on the product you did buy. Just a label would be nice! And a way to have the underside of your head protected from the ground while being able to breathe. Don’t want a bag that cooks people! Not a good survival tactic!!!!! That change would make it worth $10 or more

A Good piece of Kit at a value
I liked how they explianed they went the extra step to incorporate the color right into the PE layer. For hunters or in an emergency the camo or orange color could be important and if its just printed on wear off. The compents and everything was first rate and I like the survival whistle nice touch, For the weight, size, price and quality it is a good piece to carry wherever your travels take you, And it just may save your bacon someday.

Will Keep you ALIVE
Tested this at about 40 deg, while dressed in my E&E fleece "bail out " ensemble . Kept me south of comfortable, but no risk of hypothermia. I made a mat of dead grass to help my situation. VERY compact. If you add straw, dead vegetation, etc to increase the "dead air", you will be more comfortable. As a SERE school grad (WAY back in the day), I give it a pass. You could carry a more bulky system, but for what it is, you could tuck in or evade (if needed) and be OK. Can't speak to durability. Was like new after one night of "play" survival. If you need to use it 1x to test (I recommend) of get out of harms way in the real world, just buy another. And please don't forget to have all the other essential components of a quality E&E kit. This is only one, essential component of a much more diverse kit.

Light weight sleep bag
I'm very happy with the purchase. This emergency sleeping bag is exactly what I wanted: thick, lightweight, compact, comfy, durable and waterproof. I have opened it and fold up to the original size easily. I love how small it is as packaged yet big enough to cover me and keep me warm.

Slightly improved space blanket.
Have not gotten to test in the field yet, sort of hoping I don’t have to as I see this as just a better made space blanket, but from first impressions it seems pretty good. The camouflage paint on the outside is already worn off in spots upon first opening, but is mostly intact. The size is good, will easily accommodate an average adult, keeping in mind that I am a 5 foot 10 inch tall male of average build. It seems durable enough, but as I have not purchased a second one so far I am not willing to push its limits to see how far it will go, it does at least handle average movement while inside without tearing. The interior reflects heat well, it obviously does not breathe so you will have condensation build up depending on local humidity, but from testing inside my house I felt noticeably warmer within a couple minutes. In an emergent situation it would certainly improve your chances of survival.

Keeps you warm but also keeps the moisture in.
I used this on my recent trip to Grand Canyon. The rim got 6 to 8 inches of snow the night before, and the night after that the temperature was at 7 from what I was told. I slept at the Indian Garden Campground that night and I only used my sleeping bag and the bivy sack ( no tent ), this thing kept me warm all night...so it served its intended purpose I got it for. BEWARE though...by using this as an outer shell for your sleeping bag, the moisture have nowhere to escape. You will need about an hour to hang your sleeping bag to dry before moving again.

Ok for an Emergency..
Wild camped this weekend, very cold.. sleeping bag was damp by the morning... If your camping for more than I night, I think your sleeping bag will double in weight.. it keeps everything inside.. Saying that, it will stay in my pack, just incase..

tENDA DI EMERGENZA
