A new, twisting thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Teacher and The Housemaid ! She's looking for the perfect man. He's looking for the perfect victim. Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She's seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman―the latest in a string of deaths across the coast―confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them. Sydney should feel safe. After all, she is dating the guy of her dreams. But she can't shake her own suspicions that the perfect man may not be as perfect as he seems. Because someone is watching her every move, and if she doesn't get to the truth, she'll be the killer's next victim... A dark story about obsession and the things we'll do for love, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden proves that crimes of passion are often the bloodiest… Review: Great book - Another great book from Freida. The twists are unexpected. This book is a great mystery, I highly recommend reading it. Review: Good, but too easy - This book was good. I love Frieda McFadden's writing. I've heard she is our Stephen King of this generation (I am Gen Z). The reason this wasn't a five star read for me was due to the pacing of the book. All of Frieda's books are typically fast paced and I would say this one kept me hooked the whole time I was reading it. It wasn't necessarily that pacing-wise. It was more so that the details occurring throughout the story were kind of bland to me and the big reveal occurred in like the very last 30-60 pages of the book. Which is fine. I think she's done similar in other books which has worked well, but for this case, it wasn't as satisfying. This was almost a 3 star read for me because I had predicted (naturally) that Tom was the murderer behind all his victims. Then I predicted that Gretchen's boyfriend was Slug, and ultimately the murderer. Then I predicted that Tom and Slug were working together in present time to kill victims. It was a major twist that Gretchen ended up being Daisy and I didn't expect that to happen. But I think that it doesn't make a lot of sense how Daisy and Tom kept getting away with a lot of murders. Especially stemming all the way from high school into very well into adulthood (30s to mid 30s). I think the way that the crimes were covered up was very sloppy and quickly written. I also think that the way Tom and Daisy just run away and hide at the end is wrapping it up way too quickly. I think this book would've benefitted from an additional 100 pages at minimum or an additional 300 at maximum. Overall, still love Frieda. The story was interesting and a quick read. I just think some of the plot points were kind of lazily written and that the ending was shaped up a bit too cleanly. Especially with the creep being murdered.

A Thriller That Doesn’t Quite Thrill
⭐⭐⭐✨ (3.5 stars) This was my first book by Freida McFadden, and overall it was just okay. I gave it 3.5 stars mainly because it kept me entertained for about 10 hours on audio. It’s the kind of book you can have playing in the background while doing errands without needing full focus. I actually became interested in this author after watching The Housemaid, which I thought had a very well done and creative plot. That experience led me to explore books from this widely acclaimed author. I had heard this was one of her best thrillers, but for me the writing felt a bit weak and the plot wasn’t especially compelling. It often felt like I was reading an easy, YA-style book. This is not a masterpiece thriller that challenges you or keeps you deeply thinking. The story feels somewhat rushed, as if it was written to get something out rather than to fully develop a complex narrative. That said, I’m still interested in exploring more of her work to understand the hype. If you’re looking for a deeply crafted, edge-of-your-seat thriller with powerful writing, this may not be the book for you. But if you want something easy and entertaining that keeps you engaged, it does the job.

LOVED IT
📚 The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden Freida McFadden did it AGAIN! 😩👏🏾 I absolutely loved The Boyfriend! This book had me suspicious of EVERYBODY. 😂 Every time I thought I had things figured out, something happened that made me question everything all over again. The twists, secrets, lies, and suspense kept me turning the pages because I HAD to know what was really going on. And that ending?! 🤯 I definitely wasn’t prepared! If you love psychological thrillers with short, addictive chapters, questionable characters, and twists that keep you guessing, PICK THIS ONE UP!

What a Twist!?!?!
🛑SPOLIERS🛑 ⭐️: 3.75/5 WHAT A RIDE... This is the first book I have read by Freida McFadden. I know she is a huge thriller author and I wanted to read a book by her. This book I came across while looking for good thrillers. Also, it is heavily recommended on TikTok. I decided to read and I can say I slightly enjoyed it. The book started off slow and then fast and then and then fast. The whole dynamic because Syd and Tom from the beginning was strange. I didnt understand what was going through her head half of the time. It was like I was trying to find out who every character was ans I couldn't. Then Bonnie was murdered and I just couldn't put the pieces together. I knew from the beginning Tom was involved but I did not know exactly how he was. I had a feels he was not the killer but I knew for sure the killings were connected to him. My biggest issue with this book was the twist and ending happened to fast. First we find out who Gretchen is and then all of a sudden she runs away with Tom. Though Tom was acting like he loved Syd and wanted to be with her. But instead it was a fetish because he liked her bleeding. But nothing was thought out the end. Also, I should have known something was up when the woman just acted so naive. Like seriously? I will say I did enjoy Tom's perspective. I was more interested in when spoke rather than Sydney. Also, the twist was out of nowhere and I liked being wrong. But I was hoping Daisy/Gretchen would get hers after all the people she hurt. It seemed like Syd just accepted they were gone which was nuts to me. The Kevin storyline was just unnecessary. This book was ok. I would totally recommend it but I just feel there is no much missing. I need more. But this won't be my last read by Freida!

4.5 stars. Liked everything about the book.
The Boyfriend By Freida McFadden 4.5 stars Good book, well written. Pleasant characters. Twist surprised me. I used to rarely find authors who could surprise me which is why I am bingeing my way through Freida's books. Sometimes in between after a few Freida books I read a non-Freida thriller just to try and make her list last longer. Sometimes I'll read a couple. But usually I'm disappointed and I come right back to her. The last author who gave me this same feeling of not knowing where I'm being led was actually Sophie Hannah. But her books are a much bigger time commitment. Freida's books are a much easier read. Right now I can easily read a book or more a day if life doesn't get into the way too much and the book is not too depressing or irritating or boring. I sprinted through The Boyfriend in a few hours so it's definitely one of the good ones.
