He lost 2 lbs in the first week. He is not as bloated and his urine is much clearer. He seems happier and his eyes brighter. I find the feeding guidelines confusing and want to figure out the per day cost. Thanks!** A: The packaging indicates there are 8 servings per bag for an 11 lb. cat or 9 servings per bag for an 8.8 lb. cat. However, that would suggest they believe this should not be the cat's sole food source. Printing on the bag indicates: 1) there are 400 grams in the bag, and 2) 479 kcal per 100 gram. So 479 x 4 (or 4.79 cal/g x 400g) = 1916 calories in the bag. A cat needs approx. 30 calories per lb. to sustain its weight, so a 10 lb. cat needs 300 calories. Therefore 1916/300 = 6.39 days worth of calories to sustain a 10 lb. cat if it eats nothing else. **Q: Can this be crumbled up? My older cat recently had to have some teeth pulled.** A: It would be difficult to crumble, since the “cuisine” is quite hard. I have experimented a lot with this cuisine. My kitty is 15 #. I take some high quality canned food (pate’) and mash it in her bowl with a fork. I then add water to it.
