Will they split it fracture?

YES, they will fracture into sharp pieces like glass shards. My 75 pound lab had to have major stomach surgery to remove the pieces he did not vomit up. Fortunately the pieces did not get into his intestines or he would have died. Several weeks of aftercare, and 10 weeks later still not as active as before.
